Rock emerged from boogie-woogie. The straight eights rock'n roll is
attributed to a Kansas City boogie-woogie piano player who played some
tunes in a straight eighth pattern rather than a shuffle. Also if you
listen to the cakewalks of the late 19th century you'll hear the rhythm
patterns
