<snip> FF is more like the Kumbh Mela than anything else which comes to mind. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/message/80139 L B S
Doug writing: Yeah, as the Spiritual Directory tells there is stuff going on here most all the time both scheduled and un-scheduled.. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/message/79355 A sad state of things with the TMorg here now is that there are way more people doing spiritual practice outside the domes in Fairfield than in them now. Stuff going on for instance, two recent notices that showed up as `short notice' in the mailbox: These are old now. <paste> We're going to chant the Chandi outside at Aurora Farm this eve, (Tues.Nov. 8) just after work. Please come on down and meditate while it is being chanted. We did it last week and it was very nice. Bring blankets and warm jackets & hats etc to sit in the evening chill in a nice spot amongst the trees. It should be nice. To Aurora Farm, (Billy and Dawn Hunter's) from Liberyville Road at the Waste Management corner, take Kale south. Billy and Dawn's home is 2301 Kale. On Kale, Go past their house down the Aurora Farm mailbox at the bottom of the hill and THEN continue to the next farm lane/gate. Look for the sign there pointing to the puja site Take that second farm entry to drive to the puja site up on the bluff. Look for the orange signage to find the way. It will be starting around 5:30pm. Come sit with it as it is being done. Today: Partly cloudy, with a high near 69. South wind between 11 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. South wind between 5 and 8 mph. <paste> Short notice! Reception <paste> Swami Shri Ram Kripaluji Das Maharaj, a sadhu visiting from Rishikesh is in Fairfield this week. He has lived doing tapas in Uttarkashi much of his adult life. An elder Sadhu, he lives by the Ganges River and is known there familiarly as `Guru Dev'. He will be receiving well-wishers tonite (Thursday Oct. 20th) for darshan and prasad at the Devi Mandir Temple on Burlington St. 7pm All great devotees of God welcome. < End Paste> Doug writing: There is stuff like this going on all the time now. Living in FF you have to make a point of picking up the Fairfield Weekly Reader to map out your time and spiritual satsang in addition to your own spiritual practice. It is a busy place spiritually and yes, getting to be a lot like the Kumbh Mela. Having this Guru Dev drop in here was like getting an animated postcard direct from India.
