[FairfieldLife] Who Controls the Media?

2013-06-21 Thread Richard J. Williams
Who has the capability to connect directly to the point
of origin concerning information? Microsoft, Google,
Apple, Yahoo, and Facebook?

So, who controls the media in America?

A cabal of old, grey men and women own all the media:
the internet, newspapers, magazines, television, music
and movies? If you're older than eighteen, you're OLD.

Epictetus:

Stay away from most popular entertainment. Most of
what passes for legitimate entertainment is inferior
or foolish and only caters to or exploits people's
weaknesses.

Avoid being one of the mob who indulges in such
pastimes. Your life too short and you have important
things to do.

Be discriminating about what images and ideas you
permit into your mind. If you yourself don't choose
what thoughts and images you expose yourself to,
someone else will, and their motives may not be the
highest.

It is the easiest thing in the world to slide
imperceptibly into vulgarity. But there's no need for
that to happen if you determine not to waste your
time and attention on mindless pap.

Richard, I love the Stoics and wikipedia on your buddy Epictetus reminds me of
a prayer: Lord, please grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot
change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the
difference.

Ok, earlier this week I asked you what we can do about Big Brother and you said
to get rid of him via getting rid of several govt agencies whose acronyms I
dare not type lest drones appear over my house! Anyway, I don't think Big
Brother's going anywhere, so what else do you recommend so that one has a
modicum of privacy? Hey did you ever see the movie, which I admit I love, Enemy
of the State? Maybe we could all live as did the Gene Hackman character ha ha.

So *they* let Obama win? Both times? All I can say is that someone must have
said to us in some previous life: may you live in interesting times (-:
