Michio Kaku has a unique twist to the anthropic principle. He states that our universe is the result of the survival of the fittest universe. IOW, it is possible that there are other advanced civilizations that can create other universes that are fine tuned to harbor beings like us. In a sense, it is a variation of the Copernican principle: there is nothing special to being a human being.
