I keep wondering why there's no Jazz nor Blues channel on cable/satellite. Of course, I know about Bet's BET ON JAZZ, a dedicated Jazz Channel, however, few can get it. I think alotis going on at the Grass Roots Level. Here in Portland, Oregon, the radio station KMHD (jazz, blues and NPR news is its logo) has promoted LOCAL fund raisers to get relief money to the victims of Katrina and Rita. They held a concert with local talent. Various other organizations have become red cross drops sites, etc. Many independent jazz and blues artist are "passing the hat".
