Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, a leading voice on trade, immigration and executive
powers, is urging Americans to choose their nextpresident carefully because
2016 "is the last chance for the Americanpeople to take back control of their
government."In a sober interview with Secrets, the Republicanwarned that
liberal special interests, Wall Street moguls, and internationalmedia
conglomerates are fast turning the United States into just another memberof the
European Union and that the effort is being led by a Democraticpresident eager
to go his own way with executive orders.
"This election is different because we havepall-mall erosion of law, the

eviscerates the immigration legal system, and pushed thistrade agreement that
will commence decades of transferring American economicpower to an
ever-expanding international commission. It's just not going tostop" unless
voters take action, he warned."This is the way the European Union began,"he
added.
Highlighting immigration and trade, Sessions urgedvoters to choose a candidate
who will commit to killing the Trans-PacificPartnership trade deal with nearly
a dozen Asian nations which is slated tocost 448,000 U.S. jobs, and finally
make good on 30 years of promises to put anend to illegal immigration, which is
costing the nation billions in welfare andundermining U.S. wages.
"This election will be the last chance forAmericans to get control of their
government," said Sessions, repeatedlymaking that point. "I think this election
is the big one. To win,Republicans need to demonstrate that they care about the
average person whogoes to work every day," he added.
Most Republicans are against TPP, and even HillaryClinton has come out in
opposition of a deal she laid the groundwork for andonce called the gold
standard. And there is some difference on immigrationbetween the Republican
candidates.Sessions said that if candidates don't promise to endTPP and close
the border, voters should move on. "People should have totalconfidence and a
clear commitment on those issues. If they don't, then theydon't have my vote,"
he said.
The influence of Sessions on key issues in thepresidential race, especially TPP
and immigration, can't be underestimated. Hewas the loudest voice against TPP,
which the president plans to sign in thecoming weeks, and helped Donald Trump
and Sen. Ted Cruz on immigration issues.
He warned that if the next president OK's TPP, itwould erode U.S. economic
power and put trade under a powerful commission onwhich America would have just
one vote.
On immigration, he slammed decades of failed promises.
"It's been a sham, decade after decade, and thevoters need to know that this
might be the last chance to elect a president whocan reduce this tide and to
end the illegality and serve the interests ofworking Americans. Their jobs,
their wages, their hospitals, their schools thepublic safety, have to be put

I was born at the tail end of what would be considered the "baby boomers." The
millennials today (and I have two of them) do seem to have to deal with a sense
of "entitlement" that I never had. And, I didn't bring mine up with one, but I
noted/note it.

However, I am beginning to think the case is rather that, given all that the
millennials have to sort through— today's technological world, fast-changing
economics, (e.g., one no longer assumes that one will be able to go to work in
the industry or for the company one's parents and grandparents did), changing
rules of engagement, relationship, etc.—it simply takes additional time to
assume certain kinds of responsibility. Most are way ahead in some respects,
intuitively and with regard to responsibility to social and environmental
concerns. But, to sort through the myriad of options, choices, paths and faced
with the rising costs of education and life and housing, etc., they are perhaps
more reticent to jump into the fray before they feel ready. When I came of age
"18," I was out. Now, I think the timeframe for launching, in many cases, has
changed to between the agea of 18 and 25; this is the new timeframe where
"responsibility" can be patiently and lovingly and compassionately taught, and
should be respectfully required, of those that would be entitled. They have a
lot more to deal with then we did.

Of course I'm *assuming* Sessions is referring to a dying generation, the
parents of the baby boomers, who  won't be here to spank their defiant
children, who they rarely spanked anyway. The generation that fought , tooth
and nail, the spread of Communism and American Socialism. The baby boomers ,
who had everything given to them, demand that more be given to them in defiance
of their parents who were self reliant and worked and saved for everything they
had. The baby boomers are that transition for the millennials that expect
everything handed to them on a silver platter.

I am not convinced the citizenry is ready to actuate the revolution Mr. Sanders
indicates will be needed *after* enacting him president. The revolution needs
to precede the election of a new kind of leader; one person cannot effect
change alone. I do not feel the level of commitment needed yet; we have not
suffered enough. Electing the Donald might tip the scales among the masses,
might generate the level of outrage necessary to tip the scales in favor of a
new understanding of the necessity of leadership based on a foundation of good
principle, "of and for the people," with agreement on the need for "checks and
balances." When one is acting in accordance with good principle, votes are not
bought and paid for. We will learn this the hard way if we elect the Donald.
