The U.S. is a mixture of both, with a very large leaning towards capitalism. But there is an incredibly large segment of the economy that is fed and controlled by the government...to the tune of $2.8 trillion a year (that's the federal government budget): Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Education agriculture subsidies, etc. Yahoo!
