Shows how two people can take the same statistics, the same facts, and

When I received my tax cut I spent it. And when the company I
work for got their new tax breaks they bought millions of dollars worth of new
equipment which increased the tax breaks even more. And that was just on a local
level. Nationally and internationally they are buying the newest and latest
equipment and taking advantage of built in tax breaks. It makes sense, when
you have more capital to work with, you modernize to keep up with the
competition, other wise we end up like the steel mills back in the 70's. Old
technology that could not meet the demands to be competitive with foreign
sources and you lose your market.

My point is the government uses the same formula to calculate
unemployment form year to year regardless of the administration. It may not be
perfect but I would bet it's a pretty good guess. If unemployment were
significantly higher than these figures I would think it would show
sociologically, i.e. rampant crime, especially in robberies and burglaries,
especially among first time offenders, people with clean records, Soup lines,
food pantries in trouble. Instead I see Hispanics crossing the border by the
millions and finding work, companies starting to ask their retirees to stay a
little longer because they are short handed. I see an expanding economy with
more and more jobs being created all the
time.

My point is the government uses the same formula to calculate
unemployment
form year to year regardless of the administration.

That's not true at all. The most obvious change took place during the
Reagan Administration when military suddenly was counted in the
employment figures.

And there are plenty of signs that theings are not all great. Check
to see the supply/demand for things like drug rehabilitation, job
retraining, and so on.

Nope.
Unemployment figures are always manipulated by politicians either in their

So they could actually be at 4.9% but those politicians
opposed to tax cuts want people to think they are really higher so people will
thinkthe administration's tax policy didn't really
work.

Didn't all administrations following Reagan use the military
as employment figures?Jobs are changing, becoming more hi-techand require
more education or training. It doesn't mean there are fewer jobs. Just because
the buggy builders were put out of work with the introduction of cars doesn't

Yeah, the Democrats are really going to have to get their act together
and stop acting like Republicans-lite to even have a prayer of
fielding an electable candidate.

The problem as I see it, is that Bush spends money like water for both
parties, and the Dems have a hard time resisting him, as they have in
effect been bought off. A sad situation.

I am absolutely positive that we have *at least* 10% unemployment
over here.

The big lie behind our stats here is that once someone exhausts
their unemployment benefits (or is ineligible for them, as is the
entire contract workforce), and remains unemployed, they are no
longer counted as part of the labor force. This is how reported
unemployment rates during periods of economic stagnation remain low.

And as to California being broke, Republican Governor
Schwarzenneger, after having all of his initiatives recently
defeated, is now proposing spending an additional $220 billion over
the next ten years on various programs. A real fiscal conservative,
eh?

I was simply refuting your post that implied the US stock market has

was not intending to be pro democrat or pro Germany. That your
response to the facts I presented is to declare that about 40% of the
