Is Vipassana meditation a generic term for a particular style of
meditation or is it a specific technique.
Is there a particular style/form/type (you get the drift) of Vipassana
meditation that is considered *THE* Vipassana meditation?

Vipassana (Pali; Vipashyana, Skt.), technically speaking is a style
of meditation but there are many different techniques of Vipassana.
What most or many people are referring to when they say the word
Vipassana is 'Vipassana as taught by SN Goenka' ( http://
