In this article I describe the reaction of the scientific community to Keith Wallace’s dissertation which showed that TM produces a unique fourth major state of consciousness, Transcendental Consciousness (TC), It describes how Maharishi guided the attention of researchers at Maharishi European Research University to key aspects of the emerging data that eventually led to a precise understanding of TC, and ultimately to the recognition, by the wider scientific community, that EEG coherence functionally organizes brain processes.
