Kirk was in Vermont at a Buddhist conference when Katrina hit. He and his wife couldn't go home, so they flew out to his sister's house north of Los Angeles. I'm in the final stages of finalizing arrangements for him to come here to cook a benefit dinner for Katrina victims on October 1. I'll announce details as they develop. He hasn't been in the chat lately.
Eclectic is fine with me. I love to mix things together and see what results. When I was 6 years old, I woke up early one morning and made a concoction, in a large wooden salad bowl with a crack in the side, of every soluble substance in the house. Starting with the stuff under the kitchen sink: Draino, ammonia, various soaps and cleaning solvents, etc.; moving on to everything in the fridge: ketchup, beer, milk, orange juice, etc.; then on to the bathroom: drugs, Pepto Bismol, etc. When my mother, who was recuperating from the caesarian birth of my sister, finally was awakened by the pitter patter of little feet running back and forth downstairs, the stuff was running out the crack in the bowl and oozing down the wall. I told her my intention was to pour it down the drain to poisen the sewer men. She made me clean it up and I was late for school.
