These days I like to tell religious folks that "God" is just a 
mathematical equation that runs the universe.  All religion and 
spirituality does is supposedly align you with that equation to keep you 
out of harm's way.  An analogy might be the mail truck coming down the 
street, you know to stay out of it's path or you'll get hurt. And 
besides it has a package for you. Think about it.
