Hey Romain and Albert,

That’s a wonderful idea – I’d be really pleased to attend the first IFC and
meet a lot more of the Faust community !
If you need some help, feel free to ask, I’ll see what I can do ;).

All the best and see you soon,

Greetings,

We're excited to announce that we're thinking of organizing an "International
Faust Conference (IFC)" next year. The whole idea behind this is to bring
people in our community together to present our current work and to
brainstorm/talk about future developments for Faust.

This event will take place at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in
Germany. While dates are still flexible, we're thinking about the 3d week of
July 2018.

The format of this conference (which we could probably also call a workshop)
will be as follow (this is also still very flexible):
- 2 days
- Paper presentations (~20 mins each) in the morning
- Round tables / open discussions / workshops in the afternoon
- Beer/Wine (or anything you like) in the evening ;)

There will be a call for papers. Topics will be pretty open, as long as they
involve Faust in some ways.

We'd love to get some feedback before we start organizing this event. Do you
like the "global" format? Do you think the dates will work for you? Do you
think you might attend (that one is kind of important as we'd like to get some
estimate of how many people might come)? Do you have any suggestions/thoughts,
etc.?

Cheers,

The "IFC team" (Albert, Romain, Julia, etc.)

How do you know? It was *secret*! ;-)

But seriously, I did invite Romain in part so that I could discuss this
with him beforehand. As you guys know, I have been tossing around this idea
for quite some time, but was a bit wary about all the extra work it
entails. So I'm really thankful that Romain offered his help without any
hesitation!
