this thread reminds me. Did I ever show off my effort to make an
animated aurora desktop image?
I never got the animation to really look like i wanted. I tried to get
two auroral curtains to ripple in the desktop background
in the same way they actually do in the sky overhead.
http://jspaleta.fedorapeople.org/animated-aurora/abstract-aurora.png
I'm not suggesting that this should be a theme, but I like the idea of
trying to capture that sort of motion on the desktop.

What i really really really want is enough flexibility in the
animation stuff to be able to programmatically draw svgs as the
desktop image based on actual geophysical/weather data so I can
re-implement a visual art installation on the desktop similar in
nature
to the museum installation called The Place Where You Go To Listen[1],
except using desktop visual elements instead of sound.
I'd like to turn the desktop image into an active abstract display of
geophysical activity.

When I was last playing with the animated aurora, the desktop
animation process didn't like transitioning svg's smoothly.

I considered to do the whole keyboard but I noticed there is too much
details hence the reason to use few keyboard buttons. It will be the
base of other derivative such as shortcut, input. Three or four buttons
for 22x22 and 24x24 will be available.

I'm not sure what levitating paraplegics have to do with Fedora's
overal mission. I'm sure they are in the userbase, but i don't think
we make any effort to target them, so singling them out as a focus in
the theme might be a little out of place.

Here's what I see. I see people facing a way from me.. towards a

me off a cliff and falling into ocean water on some land mass's west
coast is a sort of freedom. But I wouldn't call it a freedom
strengthened by nor strengthening a growing community.

Testing Firefox 3 Beta 2 with native icons

2007-12-19 Thread Luya Tshimbalanga
Beta 2 version of Firefox 3 now support native icons from GTK. I took
opportunity to test Echo
icons theme. I can easily tell both left, right arrow and refresh need some
work. At
least, it is a good news Firefox 3 will be native for Linux distributions.

Calling all HIG-ers

2007-12-19 Thread Robin Norwood
Hi,

I'm working on PackageKit (www.packagekit.org). The project is
developing rapidly, and the project leader, Richard Hughes, recently put
out a call for some HIG-love, along the GNOME guidelines:

http://hughsient.livejournal.com/48726.html

If any of the many lovely and talented Fedorans on the list could help,
it would be much appreciated. Just follow the instructions in hughsie's
blog.

(Not on the list, Cc me on replies, etc)

Thanks,

22x22 go-down icons

2007-12-19 Thread Luya Tshimbalanga
Just made a 22x22 go-down arrow perspectives for echo. The tricky part
was the extrusion technique which I used three non-outlined rectangle. I
wonder if there is another technique to give a 3D dimension in a 2D
perspective. Thank you.
