One quick suggestion - the '10' is in the wrong font. It
looks maybe like Deja Vu but it should be MgOpen Modata.

I just copied the design, but, yes it is wrong..I just overlooked it..
Thanks for pointing out.

Why did you made the metallic base brown/golden? It is grey in the splash:
 http://fedoraproject.org/static/images/f10launch.png

I did both, and the second one looked a bit more glossy.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Image:Leaflet.png
and
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Image:Leaflet1.png

Don't you think the screenshots are too blurry (small resolution) to be
 printed like this?

Yes, they are.
I am replacing them.
Is a high resolution version of this picture is available somewhere?
http://fedoraproject.org/static/images/f10launch.png

And I believe you have here the front and back page, the copyright
disclaimer looks like the last page.

Yes, you are rightmy fault that I didn't mention the last page.

An finally, I think you can use an image with sharp, not rounded corners.

Ok. Will remove the rounded corners.
Thanks a lot. :)

Very nice otherwise. One thing I thought about regarding this is that
while it's nice to keep up to date on posters like these, I wonder if
a stable version for 3 or 4 releases would be more cost effective and
could go into an EventBox or something.

Nice suggestion! It would be great if we could have a version
independent poster for the USB station KIT.

 Don't forget
 http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/USBStickCreationKit
which has launched as an EventBox sub-project.

Then let's work on it!!!

What we have is the SVG source for the existing banners (and I believe there
should be a general template somewhere, but I am unable to find it).
It should be a trivial task to take such a SVG, replace the icon (probably
with a CD/DVD icon from wither Bluecurve, Mist or Echo) and change the text
 to say Free Media

Thanks.. :)
At first I was unable to find the sources.
Now found out they are here[1].

I have done the freemedia thing..it is here[2]

2009-01-20 Thread susmit shannigrahi
Hi,

We have been moving the freemedia infrastructure from fedoranews to
our own servers.
Towards this goal, we have managed to setup this[1] form and a TRAC[2] .

Now, can you please suggest, how to keep this[1] form consistence with
rest of the Fedora website/wiki?

I tried to use http://fedoraproject.org/static/css/fedora.css but
without much result.
On using this, I am getting only the left side bar. Nothing else. :)

Some help will be nice to have.

Thanks.

A few people I have spoken to say it looks good for a concept.

Please have a look at

Your design does not follow these.

Also, the concept is good.
You may like to work with the artwork team on this. (cc ed.)

For F11 not yet, since they will have to fir somehow the rest of the theme,
probably using the pattern proposed my Mo (the CD art has to be simple, for
 cost effective mass replication)

Re: F11 DVD label, how does this look like?

2009-04-06 Thread susmit shannigrahi
Also, to keep the printing cost down ideally the label will use only a few
 colors, see for example http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Artwork/MediaArt/F10

Well, here in India, they don't charge by color.
They charge at a flat rate of 11INR(22 cents) each for bulk production.
We did a bulk run of 3000 for F10, here[1] is the photo.

I think about something very simple, like a blue disc with all the required
text *and* a ring at the outer edge in the Greek pattern proposed by Mo.

This will be simple to make. I shall do it.
Thanks.

Re: F11 DVD label, how does this look like?

2009-04-06 Thread susmit shannigrahi

Then probably they are printed with inkjet printers,

Nope...they are offset printing, the artwork is printed directly on DVD surface.

where the number of
colors doesn't matter. Usually the labels are printed this way at home,
being too expensive for a large scale, but 22 cents seems fine to me.

And 22 cents is all inclusive, Blank DVD, DVD replication, printing
artwork and Shipping in bulk to anywhere in India. :)

I am not a big fan of that, but if you want you may try a button design with
a simplified version of the lion head (the layer taken from the wallpaper
