Printing problem w. Photosmart 8450.
I have an HP Photosmart 8450 installed on fedora 12. It prints beautifully when it comes to colour pages on plain paper format A4. However, when printing photos it fails. I simply cannot force it to print 4 by 6 inch borderless photos. The printer test page comes out in the correct size but the printer does not accept that the photo tray is activated and when I activate the A4 plain paper tray the 4 by 6 inch test page comes out on A4 paper. I have set the following options: Media Size: Photo Borderless 4x6 in Media source: Photo tray Output Mode: Color Media Type: Photo Paper Print Quality: High-Resolution Photo Installed Inks: Photo + Color The driver is: hpcups 3.8.9 Does anyone know what is wrong? -- Erik. -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

Don't know if it is related, but I spent months getting DVDs to print all the way to the edge on my Photosmart 5580. One thing I found was that no two apps printed the same way even if you theoretically specified the same print options, so I wrote my own app to do nothing except print an image, and I at least got consistent results on the DVDs. My experiences (and my print program) can be found here: http://home.att.net/~Tom.Horsley/dvdp/dvd-success.html Not sure if any of that can be adapted to printing pictures. Since I can print pictures directly from an SD card with the 5580, I always do that, and bypass all the potential for printer drivers screwing things up :-). -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines

Even though I have 3 color, 1 photo black, and one black cartilage, the "Photo + Color leads to a wrong paper size error when trying to use the photo tray... Good Suggestion but it didn't help. What helped was to update hpcups to 3.9.12. Same options except that "Installed Inks" was no longer an option. hpcups 3.8.9 is sick. -- Erik. -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@redhat.com To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Communicate/MailingListGuidelines
