I have not had any fleas or ticks for the last 4 years. I have 4 cats, 2 which
go out in the yard which is full of catnip. I read the other day that since it
is in the mint family, it repels fleas, etc. The only place AI have had black
ants is on the south side of the house which has no
With 8 cats, the most I have had at one time, it is too expensive. I now use
catnip and other mints planted in the yard. The cats love it and roll around
in it, have no fleas. In the winter, I break off pieces for them to play with
and eat.

If your other cats are healthy and getting vacinnated every year for FELV, why
not let her in with them. I have never seperated FELV cats from negatives and
all my other cats that have passed on were 18 and 19 yeas old, they died of old
age related problems.

My Annie is positive, age 8 and she gets regular check ups because she is
positive. I have not checked for FELV since her first year with me (4) because
she lost her person due to cancer, was locked up in a small trailer for 3
weeks, shoved into a box for the trip to the vet and then in a
Because I'm scared. That's why. I wish I could get it to make more
sense. It had always been the plan to let her and Merls out when I got
them all vaccinated and tested. They are finally all vaccinated and
tested, and the youngest is over 1 year old, and I still can't do it.

I agree that sometimes people do not treat stray animals well. But in her
case there is zero chance of unwanted pregnancy.

I'm a BIG proponent of s/n, especially pediatric in shelter/rescue situations.
I've teched in Animal Control facilities, and worked as a volunteer surgical
tech for a private s/n program. That said, there are times I make different
choices. Immune compromised animals are one place where I

Nytenpyram is excellent stuff. Much less expensive than Capstar. My
daughter has 27 rescued cats and she also buys it from Little City
Dogs.

I never have a severe flea problem as I vacuum every day, use
Advantage 2, have flea traps in every toom, and use flea combs.

I talked to the vet today and he looked at her. She is a little underweight
and mildly anemic. He said he would not even consider it unless/until those
two things are corrected. She does eat on her own but not much. I'm going to
try her on some prepared raw and see if that helps. He

My sadness is profound for your loss. My Zander – he of the wondrous response
to Winstrol – also finally succumbed at age 7 to a very bad heart. The vet said
she had never seen anything so bad, and yet there were no indications of any
heart problem for the whole time. My first thought –

You did NOT fail him. Heart disease is not easily detected and cats
are very good at hiding their pain and illness. I had a FelV cat who
just suddenly died at age 6 and she showed no symtoms of illness, she
simply laid down and died on the kitchen floor. This is the longest

All of my cats get spayed/neutered as soon as they are old enough. Unwanted
kittens are targets for guns, cars and poison around here. People think of
strays, dog or cat s a nuisance, not worthy of respect and life.

To spay or not to spay, that is the question. I had one spayed years
ago and she came thru it fine, but this is the one who died suddenly
at age 6. Her sister was not spayed, but put on birth control and she
is still alive and appears fine. My other FelV cats died mostly as
kittens ages 8 to 10
I'm so sorry Kelley. Thank you for taking such good care of Merlin. I know
he appreciated it. <3 <3 <3

We have been using Advantage monthly (big dog tube, divided up) and not
much success. Every time I take a cat in the vet will say "too many fleas"
and apply Revolution. That seems to work better but at $18 a pop I cannot
afford it. So I actually am going to Seresto collars. I have read of some
I took her to the vet today. Very friendly, mostly healthy. She is a bit
thin. I am going to try to put her on some dehydrated or frozen raw. She
does not eat a lot, but she does eat. A little anemic. She has diarrhea,
fecal is not turning up anything. Very very friendly and loves people.
