Welcome to the group.  You will really learn a lot here.

I'm sorry your Bodie is FelV positive, and I know how scared you
feel. It would be difficult to answer your question about how long a
FelV cat can live, as it is different with each cat.  Kittens seem to
be the most susceptible to the disease, and older cats seem to have
more resistance after being exposed. Some cats can be exposed and
throw off the virus and others are carriers but not symptomatic
themselves. The unfortunate cats who are FelV positive come down with
any number of health problems which are fatal in time, as the FelV
virus destroys their immune system.

Some people in the group have tried various treatments with their
FelV cats and you will hear all about their results with these.

I hope your Bodie is one of the lucky kitties who will either
throw off the virus or remain as healthy and energetic as he
is now. Feed him the very best quality of food you can, and 
keep his stress level as low as possible.  This seems to be
very important.
