I can't afford a fire suppression system, but I plan to have everything
hooked on power strips. Did you know that if you only use a microwave less
than seven minutes each day, its clock requires more power than the
microwave itself?! Based upon a family of four, if you'd plug most
appliances into power strips you could save $100 and up per year. Here's a
link to how much you can save by either unplugging your appliances or
keeping them on power strips and just flicking them on when needed.

This was in the January issue of Vegetarian Times (not just for
vegetarians!), and here's the link to the article:
http://www.vegetariantimes.com/document/552

It's short and interesting, and shows you some simple ways to save water,
energy, and money!!

Sorry this is completely off topic!

I'm also building a fire suppression system--a retrofit in a ranch

style--thank goodness it'll be relatively easy. All the stuff that

should be unplugged will also save you gobs of $$$ if you plug those

items into strips and then just throw the switches at night or

whenever. Spend the money you've saved on--who else!?-- THE KITTIES!
