I started with one, and after a few years brought in another positive. It made no difference to anyone's status.

I brought my last stray in immediately after her 1st and only (as far as I know) leukemia shot. So it hadn't had time to be boostered and take effect yet. She was "Mama Kitty" from North Carolina. You might remember the story. It was winter and she was better off taking her chances here so I
Kerry,
I truly believe you have NOTHING to worry about if the negative cat is vaccinated. Even if he's not I don't think you do.

Belinda, Gloria, Nina, Kerrywhat I don't know about the cats involved (in accidentally eating the positive's food) is whether they are vaccinated against FeLV.
Here's a Q that I keep meaning to ask you (and everyone else who mixes):
Do any of you mix

I have done that but not on purpose! I had a feral cat in a carrier
in my living room where I had maybe 1/2 dozen feline leukemia positive cats and
kittens at the time. She got away from me and hid it the room - and was
there for a full 9 months before I was able

Hi Kerry,
My negatives are all vaccinated, this is what has worked for us for
10 years so I won't change anything. It is my understanding though that
a healthy, adult cat with a healthy immune system would probably be OK.

Well,
I vaccinate my 3 negs now but they were all exposed to one of my pos for
several years before I knew she was pos. I got them all as kittens so
they were exposed at a very early ageshared food, litter, groomed each
other and all those other things cats
Here's a Q that I keep meaning to
ask you (and everyone else who mixes): Do any of you mix successfully WITHOUT
vaccinating your negs?
I did in the past. When I moved up north, from Arkansas,
none of my cats had ever been vaccinated against anything. Moogie (the FELV+)
was born while in

Well, the virus is very flimsy, as I understand it, the contagion is
not high (like a URI). It is generally supposed to be contagious
thru food and water, but I've mixed my felv+ and - cats for long
periods of time, with them sharing food dishes, and no problem. Hope
that's some comfort.
Of course I can't guarantee, but I'd say nill. Haven't you ever heard
when it dries, it dies?
Tell her not to fret, I'm sure the hooligans are fine.

Hi all,
We have been out of touch for awhile so I hope everyones kitties are doing ok..
Bandy is FeLV and FIV + and has lived with my other kitties since 2001. After finding out that Bandy had all of this back in the summer, I had all my others tested. My 16 yr old is negative for both and he is
nearly impossible to impossible. less than 1%.
