Yes, Periactin, also known as
cyproheptadine is used commonly as an appetite
stimulant.
I have used it many times, and
more often than not, it DOES increase appetite.

I had Cypro prescribed in a transdermal for my Gypsy. I'm not sure if
it helped her appetite because she also started Pred at around the same
time and that stimulates the appetite too.
