Hey,
If you do decide to take your cat's temp, I'd advise waiting until they are relaxed and on their side (sometime Satch doesn't even stop purring if I can get it right - but then he's a weirdo), but most importantly, well lubricate the tip and stem of the thermometer. I've used butter in a pinch, but really, a proper lubrication (like KY) is the best, it makes it MUCH easier on them. Even Satch objects to being poked without it.
