I don't have a dark background. Someone else told me I did too, weird,
because I DO NOT have it set up to have ANY background colors, and I do not
see it myself. But, I can set my posts to plain text, and that will probably
fix it. I don't like using plain text because the text is so big I have to
scroll down top read more than 15 lines at a time, but I do not know why
some people see a dark background either, and I don't know of any other way
to fix it (since it doesn't exist as far as my computer is concerned) than
to set all my messages to plain text. Let me try a few things here I
HATE this huge ugly font, maybe I can fix it and still use plaint text.

Wow, isn't that strange. I received your
e-mails with itty-bitty print and dark background. This one you sent the
print is normal, not huge. Whe I send e-mail on this addy, no matter how
large a font I use, it shows up like this. However, when I use my aol
addy, I can sned larger print. Sometimes if it is long and difficult to
read, I copy/paste andsend things to myself so I can change it to a more
readable text for ME. Computers are wonderful and

Re: Jenn/your posts-a question

2005-05-27 Thread felv

Well, I made it a bit bigger, anymore and my
signature wont wrap correctly, hope it helps. Nothing I can do about the
background, sorry, if I make it any lighter, I wont be able to look at it myself
(I'm a bit disabled with the vision problem, sorry). I did lighten it as much as
I can, it's now light gray, instead of medium gray. (Or it should be, anyways,
but then someone told me it was purple, and I have no idea how that happened, so
who's to say what color it really is? You tell me, OK?)

You can change the text size of any email or
webpage on your own computer, assuming you are using a Windows computer, and
running Outlook Express for your email. I'm using Windows 2000 and Outlook
Express 6, and on my screen, if you look at the top of this message's window, do
you see where it says "View"? If you see that, click on it, and then that will
open a drop down menu, then mouse over where it says "Text Size", and then that
should open up some options of smallest, small, medium, bigger, and biggest (or
something to that effect). Just choose to make it bigger. That works for any
email. The same option exists in Internet Explorer (just fish around in the
menus at the top of your window, and you'll find it eventually), if you ever go
to a website with the text too small to read. It may not be in exactly the same
place on your computer if you are running Windows 98 or Windows XP, but so long
as you are running some version of Outlook Express for your email, it should be
there to fix the text sizes in email for you. I'm running Outlook Express 6, but
it should be the same in older (or newer) versions, with minor grammatical
changes.

Now, if you're going to a website (like your
ISP's website, or yahoo, or hotmail)to check your emails, then I am not
sure you can do anything on your end to make it bigger.

Strange things do happen with these machines, and this is worth mentioning: I
sent an attachment earlier this year to a group of pals worldwide that showed
paint options on a well-known paint manufacturer's website. One of my friends
let me know that what he actually received was 2 normal roomset/paint pix, and 2
pornographic pix. I was aghast (esp as one of the addressees was my 80-year-old
uncle). I sent out another damage-control email but nobody else appeared to have
got the "corrupted" pix, just him. (thank goodness.) I am very relieved that he
took it up with me. I could tell from his initial response that he thought I may
have gone a bit wacko -- he hasn't seen me for 10 years. But I have no idea how
that could have happened. Very scary.

  Subject: Digby has passed ...

  Dear Group,

It is with great sadness that I tell you that Digby
crossed over on Tues. evening (Mar. 24th). I had taken him to the vet
clinic that morning, to obtain some repeat blood work to check his numbers
from the previous week. Our intent was to then take him the next morning
to see his regular vet for a follow-up assessment and results from the blood
tests, and then more than likely make our "decision".
We had been syringe feeding him this past weekend,
since Sat. evening when he just couldn't/wouldn't take anything we had been
hand feeding him. Thankfully, this kept his strength and weight
up. In between feedings, he was comfortable in his various "safe places"
sleeping. Late Tues. afternoon, after he used the litter boxhe
immediately became winded - laid down on the floor, panting and softly moaning
when he exhaled. I knew that was his "sign" to me. I called my
husband to come home from work and when he arrived we called the vet
clinic. They had run their own PCV (Hematocrit), and it was down to 10%
(N = 24 - 45%). Two of the vets came to the house after we had some time
to spend with Digby. One of the vets had requested to come with the
other one, as she had come here last summer to help our CRF baby "Casper"
cross, and said she wanted to be with us this time as well. We were very
touched by her compassion and concern for us.
Digby passed very peacefully in his favourite spot -
in our bay window on a pillow looking outside at the birds. He gently
laid his head down and closed his eyes. We were so relieved at the
  peacefulness and tranquility of it.
That morning, I had discussed our wishes with the vet
clinic. Digby will be separately cremated and his ashes returned to us
in an urn. We made it known to them that if they wished to autopsy him
for tissue samples, etc. to gain perhaps some more insight into Feline
Leukemia, that was O.K. with us. Our thought is that perhaps Digby's
passing can serve some greater good for others suffering with this. They
felt that the Animal Health Lab at the Veterinary College in our province
would be interested in samples, to add the information to their
database. This lab is the one that had done most of Digby's blood
  tests.
I will continue to read the posts on this forum, as
our other furbaby Pekoe is also FelV+. He's doing fine healthwise - as
far as we know. I believe he realizes that Digby isn't here anymore, but
I know he'll be fine. Many thanks to all of you for sharing your trials
and tribulations. I would like to share a phrase with you that I came
across just yesterday. I find it very consoling at this time -

"A gentle sleep is sometimes the kindest answer to the most impossible
  question of all ..."

Hi Everybody,
I just got this link from my IBD list for an online archive radio show

to 3 of the shows, one on AC, one about wolves, and the interview with
Michelle Bernard about feeding a raw food diet to cats. In this last
one, Michelle mentioned how Taurine is even more important to immune
function and the prevention of URIs than Lysine. I intend to start
adding a pinch of Taurine to all my cats food as a regular practice.
Hey, it can't hurt, and it just might help!

THALIDOMIDE??

I'm unaware of the non-human benefits of this drug, but it is a strong anti-nausea drug that was banned in this country because of the massive number birth defects it caused. It was given to pregnant women as an aid with morning sickness and it was effective for that, butthousands of babies were born without limbs and other serious defects. I know that it is still used in some countries in conjunction with chemotherapy to help control nausea, but I would be very very careful about this one!Barbara Baass [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Hi Mia,
I was wondering if you knew where to get "thalidomide?" We may have found a way to cure Stomatitis from another country, but I need to figure out where to getthis one thing that goes into it. My vet is going to try it on Samson. it has worked on other kitties. We have sent him the information that we got from a member on the Stomatitis site on the internet.

http://www.healthylife.net/RadioShow/archiveAC.htmHi Everybody,I just got this link from my IBD list for an online archive radio show (Kat Berard's Animal Corner). Fasinating stuff. I've already listened to 3 of the shows, one on AC, one about wolves, and the interview with Michelle Bernard about feeding a raw food diet to cats. In this last one, Michelle mentioned how Taurine is even more important to immune function and the prevention of URIs than Lysine. I intend to start adding a pinch of Taurine to all my cats food as a regular practice. Hey, it can't hurt, and it just might help!Nina

Recent losses

2005-05-27 Thread Jamie Laws

I am trying to step out of my own grief and offer condolences to others who have had losses. Michelle and Marlene,I think we have just had a rough week. Michelle lost both Fern and Pepsi on Sunday, I lost Andy on Monday, and Marlene lost Digby on Tuesday.I just got the call today from the vet that Andy's ashes are back and I can pick him up when I am ready. But I just couldn't do it today. I may go in the morning. I don't know why I am dreading that part so much.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you both how very sorry I am for your incredible losses. I can empathize withyou and my heart aches with yours.

Hi Stan,
Jersey's potassium is low, he needs some potassium, your vet should
have told you that, I'm sorry but as long as your seeing this vet Jersey
is in serious trouble.
