You're a great person Hideyo, and an even better kitty

happen and you know if the shoe were on the other
foot, that you would be forgiving. If someone
accidentally caused you bodily harm, you most likely
would not have anger in your heart for them. Try not
to be harder on yourself than you are on others.
Those of us who are like that are our worst critics.
That little angel was probably needed somewhere else.

OT: Smookie and my life

2006-04-12 Thread wendy
Hey guys,

I wanted to update you on the little kitty that I
adopted. I decided to name her Smookie after a
black cat that my brothers had when they were younger
and who disappeared too soon after they got her.
Smookie went to the vet yesterday to get spayed. Her
spay went well. She was up this morning eating and
drinking and going potty and playing. Just normal
kitty business. She seems fine. I was a little
panicked to see that Marylyn had lost two of her
babies four days after she had them spayed, so I will
be watching Smookie closely these next few days. It's
amazing how much she reminds me of Cricket. This
morning she flopped her legs behind her while laying
on the bed, just like Cricket did. Some of you might
think I'm crazy, but if you saw what I see, you might
actually consider that Cricket is somehow a part of
Smookie.

As far as my life goes otherwise, I could use some
prayers. I am feeling a huge amount of stress right
now. There are only 6 more days of tax season left, 5
of which I have to work (in addition to my regular
full time job), and they are talking about drawing
straws for who will work on Easter. Last night I got
home at 9:45 and I have a feeling the rest of the week
will be the same way. In retrospect, the cost of
spending so much time away from my family has not been
worth it, but I cannot just quit at this point. At
the same time, my husband and I are tiling almost
our entire house. We are trying to get most of it
done before I have surgery on my feet on the 25th
because I will be down for several weeks and will not
be able to help him much. I am also a little nervous
about having my surgery, although very happy I'm
getting it done since I've had chronic pain for years
with both feet. In addition to all of this, I just
got an email from one of my nephew's teachers telling
me he has been acting out recently at school, like he
did when he was first enrolled last fall. I have
noticed some of the same behavior at home. I know
part of it is that I have been gone a lot working
this second job, but most of it is most likely because
he is feeling anxiety at having to go back to live
with his mom as soon as school is out. He does not
want to go. I am going to be heartbroken when he
leaves. If I knew he would be going somewhere where
he would get the attention and love he deserves, it
would be ok. But I know he's not, and it breaks my
heart, and I honestly don't know how I'm going to deal
with him leaving. So all in all, I pretty much feel
like I'm going to fall apart at any minute. Your
prayers right now would be invaluable.

Thanks for caring guys,
Wendy

worry, I have a feeling that Smookie is going to be just fine in her
recovery and I will definitely keep praying for Smookie as well.

PS. Cricket might be Smookie's guardian angel and she might be right

I have known we werelosing the fight for the last 3 weeks, He had lost interest in his food andalso had lost a lot of weight, but was still enjoying life up until the last2 days. he did not wish too be with me any longer sleeping or for sittingon my lap. and on the Friday I had called the vet out, I picked him up forhis last cuddle, but he wanted to be put down, and when I put him on thefloor, for him to go back to his hiding spot in the video unit, he rush outside into the garden, and did a wee, but then instead of going to one of
hisold sleeping spot, he disappeared down the into the Spanish under growthwhere I could not follow him, due to us living on a mountain type range. Allday I called him and all night, up to 2.30 in the morning, I was stillexpecting him to turn up on the end of my bed, but I was scared that he wasnot coming back, and had gone off to die.Back up again 4 , and 6, still no Tabbs, by 8 o clock I knew he was notgoing to turn up,So on with my walking shoes and a lot of protection clothing, plus mywalking stick, and some rope, and down the mountain I went calling andpraying, but knowing unless I could see him, I would not be able to recoverhim, due to not responding to me on other occasions, when he wanted to bealone.one hour later and a little bit worst for wear due to the heavy undergrowth, I hear 3 meow's from him, but for the next 20 mins nothing, but atleast I knew he was down there some where, and a
lot further down than Iwould have though he would have gone. I shouted to my husband to get the carand drive down to the bottom of the valley to see if could hear him or seehim , but no luck there. But my young cat Tiger who follows me every where, had followed me down through the thick under growth and was further down, than me, but he had found Tabbs, who was behind a big stone rock, it took me about 10mins to get to him, But he would not come to me, I now had the problem ofclimbing back up with him in my arms, which to begin with was OK, as he washappy to have a cuddle, after 10 mins with one arm round him and the othertrying to grab plant life to pull myself back up the hill, I was havingtrouble hanging onto him,But 20 mins later, and nearly having a heart attack we got to the top. Oh Iwas so happy, to have found him, I had thoughts that I would have alwayshave been looking down that valley and wondering where he
was, and neverknowing how long he was there before he past on.My FELV boy Chang who pass on last summer, did this to us, and also My FELVBoy Rocky , he went missing for 3 days, but came back to die, they whereboth, too wild too do any treatment with. But Tabbs who was also a stray wassomeone's pet at some time,Sadly Tabbs did not wish me to hold him or give him cuddles, and went backinto his hiding place of the Video, so the phone call I had made the daybefore had to be repeated, No interest in food or water, and he lookedreally fed up. I spent a couple of hours sitting next to him and giving himmy contact and talking to him, while we waited for the vet to come. Eventhen he tried to do a little roll for me to tickle his tummy. My best Boy.The end was easy and very peace full for him, thanks to my vet.If we could have got the epogen, then may be he would have had a betterchance, for any one

And probably made you feel better giving it to her? I wish Kitty
would let me give her supplements but she refuses anything she thinks might
possibly have anything added to it..including refusing freshly cooked
chicken for dry cat food. She is CAT.

My dog Fern was on Pau D'Arco, along with a thousand other things, when
she had sarcoma. They gave her 2-6 months and she lived 18 months. I doubt it
was due to the Pau D'Arco alone, but it certainly didn't seem to hurt.

Easter Lilies toxic to cats!

2006-04-12 Thread BONNIE J KALMBACH
Easter Lilies

Holly Nash, DVM, MS
Veterinary Services Department, Drs. Foster Smith, Inc.

Easter lilies, and other lilies can be toxic to cats, causing kidney
failure and death. All parts of the lily can be toxic, and eating just
one leaf can result in severe poisoning. After eating a portion of an
Easter lily, a cat will generally vomit and become depressed within 2
hours. The vomiting may subside, but the cat will not eat and continue
to become more depressed.

Contact your veterinarian immediately if you know or suspect your cat
has eaten any part of an Easter lily. Treatment includes causing the cat
to vomit by giving an emetic, administering activated charcoal and a
cathartic (stimulates bowel movements), and giving subcutaenous or
intravenous fluids. A cat must be treated within 18 hours of ingesting
the plant, or the damage to the kidneys will be irreversible.

Other lilies which belong to this same plant species and are also toxic
include tiger lilies, rubrum or Japanese showy lilies, and various day
lilies. Many other bulb plants are also poisonous such as daffodils and
hyacinths.
