Hi,
Just when I found placement for the adult feluk positive, now three kittens
need placement. The woman was going to take them to the vet to pts them, but I
told her I would take them and find a home for them. They are about 8-9 weeks
old and tested positive yesterday. Need help yet
If they are 8-9 weeks old, SNAP tests are very inaccurate. I would
not even bother testing a kitten that age. They need to be retested
in 6 months to see if they are actually positive or not.

The diarrhea contiunes but it's now mostly affecting Yoda. The other two will
have normal poos, and then sometimes soft, cow-pie poos, but they are not
having the runny, watery, sometimes mucousy diarrhea Yoda is now having. I'm
just baffeled. And upset for him. I went to scoop him up
Gina,
Take a breath and then seriously consider taking Whisper to another
vet, this vet doesn't seem to have a clue. Do you have Whispers blood
work results, if so can you post his HCT, RBC, HGB? Has his teeth been
checked, drooling can mean bad teeth, stomach upset among other things?
You should be able to get copies of the tests to take to any new vet or
have the old vet transfer them, my guess is the old vet will want to
charge a fee to do this, which is acceptable as long as it isn't ridiculous.
Another thing to think about, is that if you switch vets now, the new vet
I went out this weekend and purchased the Wellness Core dry and some cans of
wet. Bea LOVES the wet food but wasn't all that interested in the dry.
I mixed the dry kitten food she'd been eating with some of the Wellness and she
still wouldn't eat it. Finally I put down a bowl of just her kitten
I forgot to type the last line asking if anyone has suggestions on how to
transfer from one dry food to the next.
Thanks

Recommended: 3/4 current food and 1/4 new food for 3 days; 1/2 and 1/2 for 3
days; 1/4 current and 3/4 new for 3 days and then 100% new.
My cats won't always accept a new food, even done this way. I actually take
alot longer with the 1/2 1/2 before going to more of the new.
Good luck. I just
Caroline,
This sounds so much like the problems Kitty had with food allergies and
pancreas problems. I really think you need to get her checked for those items.
You can do an elimination diet fairly easily. If the pancreas is causing
problems you want to know it now.
Take care.
My five love the wet Wellness-won't go near the dry! And I have a couple
who will eat just about anything, anytime, any way! LOL

Truth is...wet is better than dry because of moisture and no grains.

I talked to the Vet today and he says it could be bacterial enteritis so he had
prescribed a medicine that I am picking up today to treat Yoda with. The vet
says we will try that and if that doesn't clear up the diarrhea, Yoda will go
in for further testing, smears, etc. So, I'm going to
I'm sorry, I should have given a cite for this. My vet says testing
cats of less than 3 months is not recommended. I can't find anything
on the Internet to cooberate. Anyone hear of this before?

All of the vets I have had over the years have stated this same thing re
testing of kittens less than 3 months old.

I haven't heard of the SNAP test being any more inclined toward false
positives on young kittens when testing for feluk. I have heard that if you
are testing young kittens for FIV there is a good chance of a false positive
from antibodies in their mother's milk if she was positive. This
My Tucson got a negative Elissa at 6-8 weeks 4+ years later (after being
an indoor only cat), showed up positive... I've always felt there are
probably a whole lot more like her out there...

It is a fact that many kittens that test pos at 8 weeks will test neg.
at 16 weeks...
Some people say 6 months to be sure but from my personal experience the
test at 16 weeks is about 80% accurate

Hi,
Thank you Tad for your kind words, and yes you have my situation right.
Ideally I would love to find placement for them all together in a home without
cats, because there is a slight chance they could not be feluk positive at all.
But I don't know anyone that could possibly do this that
