[Felvtalk] Whimsy - check up results

2010-12-24 Thread Emeraldkittee
hi everyone,

Whimsy went for his check up yesterday and we didn't put him under this time.
However, he went into 'frozen' mode, and it stressed him greatly. He was very
well behaved, just petrified.  He is very angry, depressed, scratching on his
doors to get out today. He was yowling this morning at the doors.   He hasn't
eaten yet today either - just sniffs and walks away.  I am not a big fan of
vaccines in general, and was very torn, but ended up getting him rabies only,
because he is a flight risk still.  I don't know if his demeanor is a 'mild'
vaccine reaction, or a stress related one, or both.  He does not seem to have a
fever, although he's not a kitty I can easily check this on; gums are healthy
color.

I am deeply grateful that his blood work was perfect (did a full panel); I did
repeat snap test, just in case, and the FeLV was positive still and FIV
negative.  His heart/lungs sound good, and his mouth, etc., look just fine as
well.

I just talked to my vet and she will call in a cypro rx if we need it  and is
available all through the weekend for us (we love her!!) (though he might be a
nightmare to pill, ditto with syringe feeding). I know all the other tricks, so
I will let him nap for awhile and see if I can tempt him at dinner time.

wishing you and your furbabies a Merry Christmas,
Shannon and Whimsy

2010-12-24 Thread dlgegg
Hi, sounds like Whimsy just does not like going to the vet. a couple of mine
act wierd upon return from the vet. Mostly, I hate you so I will ignore you
and hide from you. This goes on for a day and then all is forgiven. Right
now, my guy and girls haven't been out for 3 days because of weather. Right
now we have 5 and snow is still coming down. Right now, they hate me and do
everything to drive me nuts trying to force me to let them out. Homey snuck
out when i fed the birds and turned around so fast she almost knocked me down.
Then she stood at the door with a Why won't you let me in, it is cold out
here look.

2010-12-24 Thread dlgegg
I have found a new treat made for dogs that the vet says is okay for cats. It
is duck breast meat, water and glycerin. It is like jerky, but no salt.
Canyon Creek Ranch Duck Tenders. They can't eat the long strips, but cut up in
small pieces is great. All I have to do is pick up the bag and everyone comes
running.

Didn't the authorities bother to check with your vet. That would have told
them about how you care for the cats. That is the first place anyone should
check if they suspect a person is not caring for their animals. All they have
to do is look at my Care Credit account and they will know.

In the case in CT, they never bothered with the vet who even came to the
woman's house to care for them If they have it in for you, they'll get
you any way they can - even if the charges are trumped up!

know if

his demeanor is a 'mild' vaccine reaction, or a stress related one, or
both. He does not seem to have a fever, although he's not a kitty I
can

easily check this on; gums are healthy color.

I am deeply grateful that his blood work was perfect (did a full
panel); I
did repeat snap test, just in case, and the FeLV was positive still
and FIV
negative. His heart/lungs sound good, and his mouth, etc., look
just fine

as well.

I just talked to my vet and she will call in a cypro rx if we need
it and
is available all through the weekend for us (we love her!!) (though
he might
be a nightmare to pill, ditto with syringe feeding). I know all the
other

tricks, so I will let him nap for awhile and see if I can tempt him at
dinner time.

wishing you and your furbabies a Merry Christmas, Shannon and Whimsy
