Re: [Felvtalk] Stroudsburg, PA Looking for help for sweet Angelina- beautiful long haired kitty
Wow! I've never heard of a FeLV test getting lighter and lighter each time. Do you know if the vet that is testing her is using blood with the ELISA test or tears? I know using blood for testing is more accurate. You may also should have the vet do an IFA test as well, just to be certain. She sounds like a wonderful cat!! I'm not even close to PA so I can't be of help :( Keep us posted on her testing and if she gets a new home. Thanks for sharing and good luck! Is there anyone in the area who could help this beautiful cat? Natalie Angelina was an abandoned outside kitty... she is a beautiful longhaired girl, extremely affectionate, and although back in Oct she tested slight positive for FelV, she has since tested lighter and lighter. She really needs rescue- and a safe secure home please please pass her on, she has been caged too long and getting very depressed. Take a look at that sweet face. For more information, please contact Debbie Bonilla, at helpingthep...@gmail.com. She is a lovely woman, just trying to help the folks who found this cat get her to safe furever home. Personally I would offer to help with transport within a few hours drive. Please send her on to anyone you know ho might be able to help. She was found by a part time couple in the Poconos. A friend and I asked the couple of they would keep her.. she was obviously abandoned because she was just too super friendly to be a feral. So you got her fixed and shots but at that time we were told she was positive. The couple has a Siamese cat so therefore could not take in Angelina. They promised to feed her outside and take care of her. In Nov I got a call saying the people had not been up in 5 weeks nor did they expect them to come during the winter to feed her. They told me she was freezing and crying from being hungry. It was then I found a lady to keep her in her garage in a crate. I bought a kitty hot pad that could be microwaved and it stays warm 10 hours a day, but she was not let out of the crate. She got all matted and put on a lot of weight, but she needed some weight on her. But when I found out that she was not out of the crate and 4 months had past, I found this new place for her, even though it is temporary it is better for her. I am grateful to the lady who kept her all winter. She did the best she could considering she has tons of cats to care for and is out of her home 12 hours a day. Angelina just could not get the care she needed. Now she is in a bilevel kitty condo and she is let out to roam each day while her condo is being cleaned. She is being handled and petted and loved! Yay for that. All I am praying for now is a nice person to fall in love with her and who only wants one kitty. Apparently she contacted the virus and got through the sickness. You would never know she is sick at all. They think all she is is a carrier. I will get her tested again in a month or so. Thanks for helping Angelina sends her love! Hi Laure, I have not found a permanent home for Angelina yet. I was able to move her to a place where she is out of the cage in the garage but it is temporary. She is still crated and I was hoping to find her a home as an only cat since she is extremely sweet and friendly. Re: [Felvtalk] Stroudsburg, PA Looking for help for sweet Angelina- beautiful long haired kitty
I have no idea - I am on a list that posts animals on death row every day and we try finding homes for them. I know with FIV - there can be a very light and small spot on the testing strip, and eventually it is gone...as the immune system fights it off. -Original Message- From: felvtalk-boun...@felineleukemia.org [mailto:felvtalk-boun...@felineleukemia.org] On Behalf Of Lynda Wilson Sent: Monday, April 25, 2011 9:30 AM To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Subject: Re: [Felvtalk] Stroudsburg, PA Looking for help for sweet Angelina- beautiful long haired kitty Wow! [Felvtalk] request for counsel on BreAnne
BreAnne is just short of 2 yoa; spayed. She was the playmate of ToriRose who succumbed to Fe leukemia 2.2010. BreAnne tested + at that time. Isaac left 2.2011. I gathered everyone else up and moved them into my apartment from the country when Isaac left. BreAnne was/is an assertive female. Isaac used to terrorize Scrumptious in a major way. BreAnne and Scrumptious show little mercy for each other. There are now 6 cats. Cats are shedding. BreAnne's tail and rear legs look as if she has a bad case of the fleas. When I flea comb her she continues to lose a lot of fur. there are no fleas. there is now no luster in her fur. Bowel movements look okay. this past Saturday I continued the follow-up ELISA testing. The 2 originally negative cats are still negative and I vaccinated them. I asked the vet to look at BreAnne. He commented on her ratty, looking dry coat, said she had a temperature (but that it may have been due to the long ride up). I have no explanation about why I didn't ask how high or about starting her on an antibiotic. We started everyone on Petzlife oral gel (thank you Natalie) a couple weeks ago. He said her mouth looked good. BreAnne has been losing weight, not eating well. I follow her around with the food and draw her attention to it. She won't eat anything containing the usual supplements we use. I have been hydrating some orally and giving some NutriCal. She has been hanging out under the bathroom sink cabinet in the darkness. Easter Sunday I was able to be home all day and let Scrumptious out (since she is negative). I guess writing this is about getting ready maybe to let her go. The cat she is today in no way resembles her picture of 16 months ago. Stress for her? Her Grieving the loss of Isaac? She was really, really thin about 9 months ago but came back from it naturally. will leave it there. any comments will be appreciated czadna ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
