Re: [Felvtalk] Bella

2015-10-29 Thread Margo
I'm so sorry.Lend Me a Kitten I will lend to you a kitten, God said. For you to love her while she lives, and mourn her when she's dead. Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three. But will you, 'till I call her back, take care of her for me? She'll bring her charms to gladden you and should her stay be brief You'll always have her memory as solace for your grief. I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught below I want this girl to learn. I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true. And from the folk that crowds life's land I have chosen you. Now will you give her all your love, nor think the labor vain? Nor hate me when I come to take my kitten home again? I fancied that I heard them say 'Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done' For all the joys this kitten brings the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may. And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay. But should you call her back to you much sooner than we planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand. If, by our love we've managed your wishes to achieve, Then in memory of the one we loved, please help us while we grieve. When our cherished kitten departs this world of strife, Please send yet another needing soul for us to love, for life. Author Unknown-Original Message-

[Felvtalk] Upsetting notices

2015-10-29 Thread Lorrie
I keep getting these notices that they will drop me for bounces and
I have not had any bounces or my system would advise me of this.

Has anyone else had this happen? It is most upsetting to me as
this is my favorite cat group with such valuable help for FelV.

I don't know what they mean about my password (see below) this is NOT

Re: [Felvtalk] Upsetting notices

2015-10-29 Thread kat

Hi Lorrie,

I've seen this in the past - something about the server I was using wasn't accepting all of my messages (I have my settings set to include my email on any posts I make).  Make sure that "felvtalk@felineleukemia.org" is listed in your white-list/allowed list.  The password is assigned if you do not specify one in your settings.

Just go to

http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/options/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org

and enter your email & the password that was assigned & make sure your settings are okay, or enter a new password. (make sure the password is NOT one you use for other accounts as it will be provided back to you on the monthly reminders.

Hope this helps...

Kat (Mew Jersey)

[Felvtalk] Getting the med IC...

2015-10-29 Thread Margo

I was once trying to give an injection to a very unhappy cat. He was being
carefully restrained by three people, and he was winning, big time. I asked
where/how it should be given, and the vet hollered "IC". I looked at her, and
she said with gritted teeth "In Cat".

My most successful method of dealing with difficult cats is either a
screen door, or a vertical upholstered surface. Scruff the cat, and get them to
attach their front claws to either the screen or fabric, at a level of about
your shoulder. Lower the rest of the cat (claws still attached) and you'll find
that you have pretty good control. I can usually release the scruff, tilt their
head back, and have two hands to tilt his/her and get the meds in successfully,
but it has to be quick. They're so worried abut hanging on, they're at least a
little off their game. I'm right handed, so I scruff/hang with my left, so my
right hand has good access...

Just a thought...

Margo

YOU WOULD THINK THAT IT WOULD NOT BE HARD, AFTER ALL, THEY ARE SMALLER THAN
US. THEY CAN BACK RIGHT OUT OF YOUR GRIP AND BE LONG GONE BEFORE YOU KNOW
WHAT HAPPENED.

Re: [Felvtalk] Stanozolol (Winstrol(R))

2015-10-29 Thread Ardy Robertson
They are so individual -- I had a black and white guy named Patches that
would simply allow you to put it in his mouth.no problem. He hurt his
paw and I had to soak it several times a day in Epsom salts so I used a
Styrofoam coffee cup and put his paw in the warm solution. The first time he
pulled back a little and after that he realized I wanted him do leave it in
there, and he would sit on my lap for 20 minutes with his paw in the
cup...no problem. Tigger, on the other hand, would probably have the cup
flying around the room or something.

Tigg was quite a problem to syringe feed at first, and actually I think the
problem was me! I was afraid of hurting him, or having him aspirate the
liquid. I guess I didn't want him to be mad at me. Then my husband said
something to me that made me realize I either had to let him starve to death
or commit to doing what I felt was the best thing for him. After that I just
quickly did what I felt I had to do and it wasn't nearly as bad. I tried to
keep the meals very small and frequent rather than stuffing him. He is a
nibbler, so I tried to stick with that. On the days that we were both
working, I took him to the local vet office for care during the day, and Ron
picked him up just before they closed. That way they fed him 5 times during
the day, including a little water each time. I have found that the bigger
syringe worked better and I did it from the side of his mouth.

At the moment, he looks/feels like a brand new kitty, and has gained from
9.6 lbs. to 10.3 lbs. Our vet is beginning a 30-day count down to a retest
for the FeLV. Tigger has had lots of prayers on his behalf too. I think he
has somewhat of an idea how much he is loved :)

Yep, that's what I do. She is still a huge challenge. I got a Dr.
Hanson's bullseye pill gun, and that is helping, but sometimes I still have
to try twice even with that. She is a stinker. Three times I took her to
the vet for the techs to do it. Took 2 of them, and they were doing the
"works like a charm" method too. LOL! I've had just one cat that was a
bigger challenge.

I'm so sorry.

Lend Me a Kitten

I will lend to you a kitten, God said.
For you to love her while she lives, and mourn her when she's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three.
But will you, 'till I call her back, take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you and should her stay be brief
You'll always have her memory as solace for your grief.

I fancied that I heard them say 'Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done'
For all the joys this kitten brings the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may.
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

But should you call her back to you much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by our love we've managed your wishes to achieve,
Then in memory of the one we loved, please help us while we grieve.
When our cherished kitten departs this world of strife,
Please send yet another needing soul for us to love, for life.
