Both nostrils. Looks like the snot may be yellow underneath, but hard to
tell when bloody.

Re: [Felvtalk] Coco sneezing blood

2016-01-22 Thread dlgegg
During the winter heating season, Annie and I have sneezing fits. She also
joins me with weepy eyes. At nightwhen I go to sleep, my eyes dry out and then
when I wake out, they start weeping for a long time until they get adjusted. I
also sneeze up to 10 times until my nose and sinus get organized and I have a
slight nose bleed all the time.
Have you tried a humidifier in the room where she sleeps? It would keep her
nose and sinus membranes from drying out and bleeding when you sneeze. aybe
try some coconut oil rubbed on her nose, it wold lubricate the membranes and
you could even put some on a q tip and try to get some inside her nose. These
are all things I do for Annie and I.

We just came back from FeLV+ Brock's cardiology appointment. He was
diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy and CHF 9 months ago, with an
average survival time being 2-6 months. I was expecting that fluid
would be drawn off, because it's been 2.5 months since last time, and
1.5 months ago, an X-ray showed fluid was starting to build up. Not
only did Brock have NO pleural effusion (what was there 1.5 months ago
was GONE), but, the dilated ventricle/atrium had returned to a normal
size!! And his blood pressure is ideal at 128! He still has a murmur,
and thickened heart walls, but close enough for me to call it a
miracle! His Lasix is being reduced from 3x a day to 2x a day. Checkup
in 4 months unless he develops respiratory issues (increased rate or
effort).

Think horses, not zebras. It is far more likely that with the other symptoms, it is a respiratory infection of some sort. She has seen a Vet. Could it be something more threatening? Yes. But it seems both Kelley and the Vet are watching, and I'd bet changes will be noticed and addressed.Margo-Original Message-

Hey folks

Coco went through a bad time last year where she would not eat, dropped a lot of weight.  We got her started eating again and she has gained 1/2 pound - from 6.0 to 6.5 (she is a small cat, but I'd rather see her at 7).

Anyway, she is now sneezing blood.  I took her in to the vet Saturday and he tried one antibiotic, took her back on Wed and he gave her another antibiotic, which I am probably going to have to go rebuy tomorrow as I've managed to lose the
 bottle.

Anyway - she is now sneezing blood and has a very little bit of dried matter in the corners of her eyes.  She is eating, drinking, pottying, playing fine.  But she is still sneezing blood - sometimes a fine spray and sometimes hunks of
bloody mucus which is very unnerving.

Has anyone had to deal with this?

Is your house currently using heat? The sneezing itself isn't so worrisome, but the blood may simply be from too-dry nasal membranes. Heat can seriously drop humidity, and that can be the result. Has she ever been diagnosed with herpes? Ask your Vet if Famciclovir   (an anti-viral) might be indicated.hth,Margo-Original Message-
