Welcome to the group Jo. Your story is not uncommon in the group, I think several people have joined over the years because they became parents to a FELV+ litter of kittens. Sounds like you are doing really well with them. Phaewryn Donations Needed for Whitey's emergency Vet Care!

1) How much danger of contracting the virus are my cats in (they received their last feleuk vaccine in late October)? Little to none. Adult healthy cats are naturally immune to FELV in most cases, plus yours were recently vaccinated with a vaccine that is 85% effective, so I'd say you are

It's my belief that one single vaccination provides immunity for life. However, I am in the minority there. That being said, none of my cats have contracted any contagious viruses or diseases either. The interferon certainly would not hurt the eye, but I'm not sure if it would help either. I've

Have you ever used any top-spot flea drops on her at that location? Has she had any vaccines, shots, or microchips at that location? It's probably nothing, but ofcourse, once you rule out a reaction to either a chemical or trauma from a cut, poke or abrasion, that leaves the possibility of

I'd go with the vitamin C, and a good all around high calorie vitamin-mineral supplement, like Vita-Cal or Nutri-Cal, since she's doing chemo, she could probably use the additional easy to access calories. Neither of them are expensive. Phaewryn 12/24/06 Whitey Pictures:

Interesting. All the facts I could find were directed at humans with cancer though, not felines, thus it's hard to say for sure if this all applies, because we generally don't consider fruits, vegetables and grains as good food choices for cats. Perhaps though, supplementing with a high fiber

No, you can give benadryl in it's pill form, get the tablets, not the caplets, and break one in half, that is a safe cat dose! 1/2 of a 25MG tablet, or 12.5MG is the usual cat dose. Phaewryn Don't Lose Your Pet! Register at AWOLpet.com: http://AWOLPet.com (use referral code: LittleCheetah)

Children's benadryl is so diluted you have to give such a large amount to a cat it's not practical. I think it's like a whole teaspoon or more to equal a 12.5MG dose. The adult pills are much easier, they are already small, and once you cut them in half, they are VERY easy to get into a cat (you

FELV doesn't usually cause diarrhea (not in itself, though I believe lymphoma can, and FELV does cause lymphoma). However, bad food is the #1 cause. Purina is crap, throw it away, feed it to the raccoons, just get rid of it. Feed a high quality kitten food, like Innova, Wellness, or Chicken Soup
