Hi Lorrie,

Thanks, Lorrie...your place sounds so nice that it's very tempting!! I wish you had a bed and breakfast, I would come often for visits!

Let's see, 15 kittiesdivided by 3 = 5, that's 5 babiesa piece for your kids. Since you are not planning on going anywhere the next 15 yrs, I bet they could get a home. If not, I will check out your website and Maureen and I will gladly love on those furry babies 24/7. But I bet you will be around, you know your babies need you :0)

I love on mine each day in case there is no tomorrow. Life is so precious and we all can take it for granted.

Hugs to you and don't worry so much =)

Sometimes, his stool contains a small amount of blood in it. We have
had him tested for everything in an effort to find out why this is.
The vet stated she does not believe the blood has anything to do with

Hang in there Lorrie. Sometimes they turn. Did you ever find the mom
cat? If so, have her tested too. If she's young, she may turn
negative in 90 days also. The ones a year or younger sometimes do.
Even older cats can fight it off. I have a cat who was positive when
rescued. He was about 2-3 years old, male. Had him for about
90 days in a separate room, retested with IFA test and again with the
ELISA test and he was negative with both tests. I still have Moses.
It has been 6 years now. Percy, a recent rescue tested positive for
FIV and FeLv. Kept him in a room for 90 days also, retested. He's
FIV+ but negative for FeLv so I moved him to my little FIV+ area.
He's doing fine. Unfortunately, Smooch and Taco were also adult FeLv+
cats, stayed positive after 90 days. They roomed together, separate
from my other cats for 2 years, died within a month of each other.
Sad but at least they had those 2 years. Two years to a cat
is like 5 years to us. Hugs to you and the kittens.

Spay and Neuter your cats and dogs and your weird relatives and nasty

he laid down). He weighed 30 lbs, and lived to be 15 1/2 yrs. My 15 year old
dachshund has been on SD since 8 weeks old. She is still very active plays

When switching foods, it is very important to do it correctly. When cats
have been used to one food, and when suddenly exposed to a new food, their
enzymes are not used to it, often causing diarrhea and vomiting. You have to
use both old and new food, slowly increasing the proportions of the new
food.

Mary, you can get your other cats the FeLV vaccine but it will have to be in 2

I hope the kitten clears the virus, there is that chance.

Hello,

There is a cat who comes by my house and I have been feeding her for over
three years. I have tried to trap her previously but she stops eating as soon
as the trap appears so I gave up assuming she had been checked and spayed.
Last week, she came with a small kitten and I worked hard on trying to secure
a trap to catch the mom or kitten. I have been unable to get a trap to catch
the mom yet. Last Thursday morning, I caught the kitten and took her to the
vet, and she tested positive for feline leukemia.
I was so devastated because I guess we all agreed we would take this new
little gift on as she literally had landed in front of our door. She is so
lively and playful so we are hopeful. Our vet is really kind and good. He did
note that she might not live very long because she tested positive and has
enlarged glands but we are hopeful. I am now emailing many groups who work
with feral cats about getting a trap to catch the mom and have her fixed.

Regarding kitten, we are keeping her, we are very sad but we will take care of
her because she is so lovely and we want to offer her the best possible life
until she is sick. If she is sick, we have read many reports which note that
testing kitten for feline leukemia before 6months can usually show them as
positive but it's only because of the mothers milk, etc...in them.

We are also contacting groups to see if there is a person or a family with a
cat or cats with feline leukemia who would want this new little bundle of joy
just so she would have playmates. We feel awful because we have her in a
bedroom, she cannot come to contact with our two other cats who are not FeLV
positive. We have prepared the room for the kitten and have made a beautiful
place for her. Lots of toys, kitty condo, obstacle courses so she can play
around.

My friend just told me about this group, so I am joining to find out more
about our options, what to do next regarding our other cats, and best ways to
take care of her.

thanks,

Mary

Subject: Re: [Felvtalk] Flea Products

For some reason, my pride has not had a problem with fleas or ticks. Don't
know if the extreme heat killed them off or what. Now that we are getting some
rain, mosquitos are getting to be a problem at dusk and early am so the cats
only go out at midday. When we are all out, the mosquitos seem to prefer me to
the cats. Found out that my old fashioned lye soap made with Jewelweed cuts
the itching down. The heat killed my jewelweed off this year so I am going to
make a rain garden for it. Then it will have enuogh moisture to grow good.

I
bought Frontline for my foster cats last summer and it was completely
ineffective. The next time I was at my vet’s office, I mentioned it (because
that’s where I bought it). The vet on duty (not my regular) said she had
recently heard many similar complaints and surmised that fleas in our area
were
building an immunity to it.

I
switched to Advantage and it’s worked well. However, since then, I found a
source for a generic equivalent and I’ve been using it for about a year now
with
no complaints. It’s $10 (free shipping) for 18 treatments for small cats or 9
treatments for larger cats. If anyone is interested, the company is

I
have no personal interest in this company or site. I’m just a very satisfied

But it's probably a good idea to switch products any way.  Some are good for
treating heavy flea infestations (Frontline Plus) and some have mange, worm

Well I Googled before did again. The only thing I can find is that some cats
are more prone to Moxidectin toxicity, which is why you have to be so careful
about dosages.
The Multi formula has meds for fleas - Imidacloprid heartworm larvae -
Moxidectin

Either way the dog Multi has bit had much effect on my cats this year. I've
heard some people say you should switch products periodically to keep the fleas
from becoming immune to the
 meds.

OK, so it appears the main thrust of this forwarded post isObama is not a
US citizen. Really Still IMNSHO, there are people who would do ANYTHING
to de-legitimize the fact that there is a black man in the White House.
Ridiculous. The one true fact about the internet is that anybody can find
validation for ANY wackadoo opinion. I bet you could find a scientific study
affirming that cats are descended from dogs and that birds are the result of
magic.

There is a refutation of this forwarded stuff (which has been around since
2008, BTW) on About.com:
http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/internet/a/snopes_exposed.htm
I'm sure you could find a refutation and charges of bias about About.com if you
wanted to. The bottom line is, vote who you want to, but make *yourself* aware
of the character of your candidate. Watch the person over a period of time;
does he contradict himself from one week to the next? Does he promise more than
he can deliver? Does he give details about his plans? Does he keep the promises
he has made in the past? By these criteria, there's nobody in politics who
truly stands up 100% to scrutiny. But unlike in horseshoes, in politics close
does count. Have these people made an effort to act on the things they say they
believe in? And are those beliefs based on the good of every single person in
the United States, not just a select group? These are things each person has
to decide for him- or herself.

2 more cents,
