Oh, yes, I am on two FIV lists (6 years)but my FIV+ are on Itraconazole. Emily is negative for FIV/FeLV. Her eyes are okay, don't care about fur loss, she does havetwo mountain range scabs and other scabs; this am an oozy area and she whacks at it with her back foot ... told her that was a no-no. If no improvement in another day she will begin an abx. I am oh-so ambivalent about continuing the fulvicin ... it seems to do no good and yet would it be worse if they were not on it ... no one can answer that. If you have a place to foster any of your kitties temporarily, you might want to do that ASAP. When do you go to court? Depends on how crappy the law feels that day ... I do know of a man in the northeast a year or two ago, the law came in without warning and took everyone of his personal and rescue kitties. By the time he had a lawyer to try to get his kitties back, most had been euthed. Yes, horror story, which is why it has stayed with me a long time. I was not there nor know him personally. From what he said and having read his posts (different list) he seemed like a genuine animal caring person. I realize this will intensify your worry andsleeplessness, I am so sorry, but you do have to do whatever you can to save your babies. The real wrath of it is people like us who have over the city limit of animals but are devoted caretakers get in trouble but people who have even only one pet, neglected and abused, do not get caught and the animal suffers. It really makes me angry. Prayers and hugs for you and your babies to be safe. Wish I could do something more for you. This morning I used an oatmeal cat shampoo lightly on the area ... me thinks the medicated shampu might have irritated the alreadynastycondition. There is a registered sex offender living across the street from us and like you, we found it on the state list (IL for me). I definitely tell my neighbors, they need to know in case they have children or children visit. I just tell them I saw his name on the IL sex offender list and they should be aware of that and I do not know any details. Last year at Halloweenour little newspaper published a map with starsin the general area the sex offenders live ... It was not good as some were two blocks away from their actual homeand the newspaper had many complaints. This year the list contained names and addresses on the front page! Yup, tried the diluted bleach ... unsuccessful. I don't mind rw on myself, but sure wish I could get the kitties healed. Probably not enough cleaning. Ugh! Poor little Emily, she was clear for 21 days while I continued to give her the oral Griseofulvin and topical lotrimin liquid where the rw had been. Day 22 - her whole forehead broke out worse than before and still a mess overa week later. Someslight healing and yet this morning a new oozing patch. It took two months+ to catch this little feral and she has lived with us13 monthsnow, very sweet and lovingyet somewhat skittish. On the whole all but one ofmy furkidstake their meds well. RW teaches us perserverance. Out came the interferon, poor Mary has gone home armed with antibiotics, more needles and more interferon, but a living cat! It may not work but it has to be worth trying and I so admire Sonia for wanting to give it a go. Makes me realize why I choose her to treat all my own cats when they're ill (including my FIV boy Eric who has an interferon injection every 3 weeks and is as fit as can be). Iodine has cured my ringworm several times (don't know where I got it, but none of my cats had it then nor got it from me) but this time it must be a different strain as it helped but did not cure the RW. Lamisil can work ... again this strain it didn't budge itmuch. I've used a variety of things on myself and it improves without staying gone. I sure hope you don't have the RW :( This is not fun but I knew we'd have it eventually since I do a little rescue and have a herd of cats. Little Ms Purrsy brought it with her and was diagnosed early-mid August ... I was so very careful handling her, isolated her immediately in her condo and it still moved into the big house and what a hassle. The cats are on Griseofulvin (except the two FIV+ who take Itraconazole) and topical Lotrimin liquid. I can't say that either works. Some cats healed, some still broke out but very slow improvement, some with new outbreaks after being on the oral for over three weeks. Frustrating. Reading all the cleaning required, sorry, I don't have time enough in my day to do all of what should be done, not even close,and I am retired.Maybe we will have it forever. .Maybe $500 already. And the UV light ... not all RW will flouresce even with the doc's expensive Wood light. Some RWshows up as fur loss, some with crud, some sores, some itch others do not. How many times can I use the word frustrating? May I add that I do not regret having my cats nor taking this little rescue who brought the RW even if we never get rid of it. If no one has already given it, there is a RW yahoo group and I'll fwd it. There is a gel suggested that is supposed to work wonderful and I am about to order some of it. I was most happy with:* Lym dip - tho I recommend no more frequently than one a week for 2 or 3 weeks, then every other week. It can be kind of harsh/drying to their skin and they do tend to lick at it, so they're ingesting it* Shampoo - I got some Ketachlor shampoo from the shelter and it seemed to help. I only got it about two weeks before Ralphie was declared ringworm free, and maybe that's a coincidence, maybe not.. but his last bath before "freedom" was with this shampoo - then I gave him a final bath before moving him to another room (just in case he picked up any spores from the

Revival animal supply catalog has two pages on RW and their suggestions, which include selling alltheir products of course, will further depress you. It sounds like we need the National Guard and several $1000 to ever get rid of RW. Some of my guys have cleared even though more are breaking out. You have a large number of kitties, too, don't you? No, the RW does not always flouresce. And it can (did) get kind of nasty before it did show up. Doc's wood's light is much stronger than my $15 UV light ... his didn't floresce either! Which makes diagnosis more frustrating. Once you have a dx on one cat you can fairly assume the other lesions, fur loss, etc., is RW. My kitties have RW on the backs of their ears, fur loss on the tips without lesionson the tips(yet), lesions and fur loss on the foreheads, one lesionon the flank, fur loss spotson paws and tail, fur loss spots on the nose ... Often the other cats have been exposed before any dx is made and onward it goes through the herd. Ugh! Once it had spread (and yes, I was very careful) there was no point in isolating those to condos any longer, so let them out. Also, hyperpigmentation of the skin where the fur loss occurs is another sign of RW. Sandy, Sorry for the FeLV+ status of your kitties, it is scary at first, and heartbreaking. They can live good lives even though they may not be as long as we'd like. Go ahead and vaccinate your negatives for FeLV+. If you can separate the + fm the - it is recommended although many on the list do not keep theirs separate. My Effie lived three years, she was diagnosed + at 3 months when I found her. She was healthy and full of energy until she developed lymphoma at 2-1/2, did well with chemo and then the cancer came back and she really only had one bad month. InitiallyEffie did have a coupleshort bouts of fever andswollen lymph nodes and most kittens have a case or two of diarrhea. Daily Lysine (OTC)helps keep down the viral load, as doesinterferon (prescription). You will learn a lot from the experiences of others on this list - it is a lifesaver, emotionally for you and physically for your kitties. Wendy, Prayers for you and your Cricket. I have not used either of those drugs but many others will share their info and experiences. You probably know that when kitties are stressed their temp will rise so you might want to take it at home. Can you ask for a tranquilizer for Cricket to take before he goes to the vet to reduce his stress, or use Rescue Remedy? My kitties have not responded to Rescue Remedy but other folks have had good luck with it. It sounds like he might need something more potent than RR though. Just a thought. My Noah must be given some Iso for a blood draw and mouth exam and that works good for him because it's quick, they come right out of it. Good luck. I am trying to get them a referral to New England Veterinary Oncologists this week, but I'm afraid it could be too late for Mandy.I was told her prognosis was very poor and the surgical options I was given just didn't seem that they would give her a quality life. I want Wink see an oncologist and let an expert determine the extent of the cancer before we make a decision about whether we should subject her to this surgery, so I want to take Mandy, too, just in case Last night, Mandy sat on the bed with her paws on my shoulder while I read, and Wink sat on my chest. When she seems to be having trouble, it is not long before she figures out how to take care of it herself. I think she has regained enervation in her rear quarters. She is a happy, healthy, active, loving little girl. She pads around the house chirping and singing and talking and is interested in everything around her, it seems. She seems to love me so much and I do her, too. She is mixing with the other cats pretty well, too. For those of you who are not familiar with Sophie's story, here is a recap, if you are interested. Sophie was a sweet, peach and grey tortie kitten when the caring person who was feeding her noticed her tail looking broken. The vet determined that Sophie needed to have her tail amputated as it appeared to be "dead". While amputating her tail, the vet also destroyed Sophie's anus and surrounding tissue, in error. Sophie did well at first but soon developed scar tissue over her anal area which prevented her from passing stool well, or at all. The stool would become impacted against her scar tissue and would make her rear end bulge out with stool grotesquely. It was awful. Sophie quickly became obstructed to the point that I had to take her to the vet to have an enema under anesthesia. The vet recommended that I put her down because she would require frequent cleansing enemas under anesthesia and would be miserable between enemas when the stool would begin to build up all over again. I knew she would have to have so much anesthesia and worrying about the effect of all that on her and the cost was more than I could afford as they charged about $90 for each cleansing enema with anesthesia. I thought her quality of life would be very poor because the vet hammered home that idea.I asked if possibly Michigan State University Small Animal Clinic could do any kind of reconstructive surgery. The vet replied that he did not know but doubted it. He did give me a referral, grudgingly, and there a wonderful surgeon by the name of Bryden Stanley said she could create an anus for Sophie by using a tendon from her leg. She was also going to strengthen the rectum and do a spay, per my request.Dr. Stanley estimated the surgery to cost $2000. I had only $700 in credit from Care Credit but the rest was raised from donations from incredibly caring and generous people from the feline leukemia group and by Timothy Meeker of the Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance Program and his group and also private donors. There were so many wonderful people who rooted for Sophie at every stage and who sent prayers and positive thoughts, too. Sophie did very well following surgery and for two months was doing wonderfully. She had did have some trouble again after two months with more bulging of stool protruding from her rear, just like before surgery, but that was mostly taken care of at home with home enemas. Gradually, these enemas were needed further and further apart and Dr. Stanley believes that Sophie regained enervation to her hind end over time, which is allowing her to manage her own stool passing now. Thankfully she didn't seem to suffer too much in her last days, just very tired, very ready. I'm glad it was our beloved Dr. Ortega that helped her across. She never left my touch and I spoke to her the whole time. It was gentle and peaceful, Dr. Ortega was kind and considerate, just like we knew she would be. There was no trouble finding a vein in her back leg. Blessings to those who know what they are doing. She even purred when we entered the exam room. She had been pulling away from me these last couple of days. That may have been the hardest aspect of her passing, that while she was still here she was already breaking the ties that held her to this world. I began mourning her two days ago when I knew she would never again jump gaily in my lap. Never again be my "heart warmer". I was asking her to let me warm her heart now, let me get her heart chakra spinning, as she'd done for me so many times. I thought that was never to be again. When we sat peacefully waiting for the doctor and the gurney, she gave me the most wonderful gift. She stretched herself out on her back in my arms and luxuriated in my scratching her neck and her chest. I am so grateful that she chose to be my heart warmer one more time, that she came back to me before she had to finally leave her wonderful little body behind. Bruce and I have just buried her in one of her favorite spots, a spot that she would sit and watch and listen and nap for hours. It was so hard to let go of her perfect little body for the last time. Because, you see, it was perfect. I told her that all the time. That she was perfect, just the way she was. I wouldn't change a thing about knowing her and loving her. She has been an incredible joy in my life and she always will be.The first time we almost lost her she was only 5 mos old. Gracie has trusted me to decide what was best for her, she has been my willing partner in trying to find a way to help her stay. It was time to trust her, she knew what was best. We were partners, we were friends, she was my girl and she welcomed me as her mommy without fur. When he had the corneal ulcer, it was a much different story and we had a treatment plan and a projected outcome. For CRF, I can't see imposing that on him just to keep him a bit longer. He is eating again and seems a bit more like himself (won't let me pet him!) so we'll just see how he does. Cosmo has a dislocated ankle and according to the consulting radiologist, it cannot be splinted. He would need surgery to have the bones fused and he would then have a stiff leg that he couldn't bend at the wrist. I have to investigate this more, because we all agree that he is starting to put more weight on the leg and the bones may actually be fusing in this position which is not much different than it would be after surgery. Again, not sure how we will proceed for him. Hedoes not seem to be in any pain; you can move his leg every which-way and he does not make a peep or try to pull his paw away. He just obviously favors the leg. I'm just overwhelmed by all this. It's breaking my heart. Having so many cats, I knew that a day would likely come when I had several who were ill all at the same time, and that has certainly happened before. I've not faced or dealt with so many probably being terminal, though. I suppose one can never fully prepare for that emotionally. Hi Terri, Since they already are FeLV+, do not give the FeLV vaccine. The other vaccines are up to you. Some vets/people feel they need all of their immune system to fight the FeLV and adding vaccines would further complicate it ... other vets/people feel the opposite, that they need the extra protection from the vaccines. I chose to give the kitties their first vaccine and first Rabies and no more. It also seems that we have new members; the reason for finding this group is always sad, but you will never find a group of more loving, caring friends. Some of you might remember that last winter my husband was diagnosed with multiple aneurysms; the most serious was in his abdomen and after weeks of tests and referrals, he was scheduled for surgery because the abdominal aneurysm was felt to be in danger of rupture. He had that surgery and came through it well. He was home for about a week and one morning we were up having coffee and he suddenly got this really strange look on his face; I asked if he needed pain medication and he said, "no; I'm blind". OK; bit of a heart-stopper there. He was rushed to the ER and it was finally determined that his left carotid artery was completely blocked and he'd actually had blood flow stop temporarily. He was transferred by ambulance back to the hospital in Hartford where he had his prior surgery (we live about 30 miles east) and had emergency surgery to clean out the artery. I repeatedly asked how this could have been missed after all the screening that was done pre-surgery since he is a high-risk patient (diabetic and known cardiac blockage). I really got no answers and I am angry to this day thathe could easily have died or been left permanently impaired. His sight did return and we feel fortunate, but once again, I feel my trust in the medical community erode a bit further. We absolutely did not intend to sue anyone; we simply wanted to be sure that absolutely everything that he SHOULD be screened for (how can you ask for it if you don't know about it?) he was screened for. He's left with some numbness on one side of his face that primarily bothers him when he trims his beard (says it feels weird), and a big scar from behind his ear to his collar bone; big deal, right? I told him it just makes him look tough! I was out of work for a bit caring for him (he's now back to work, too) and came back to a nightmare of project deadlines, office moves, a new boss, and a generally toxic workplace! On the kitty front, Brownie (FIV+) had both his eyes removed and he is like a different cat! He rubs his head all over now; it obviously hurt too much to do it before. I will never use the vet who initially screened him again. Tater Tot is in the hospital on an IV and being evaluated. He had a mild cold about 2 weeks ago and I took him in and we decided to give sub-q fluids and Lysinesince he does have herpes and it just seemed to be a particularly bad flare-up (I was given a sample of a new veterinary lysine gel to try and evaluate; thumbs down! It was way too think and 500mg worth was a really big blob that he was having no part of; so stick to the capsules until they reformulate, is my advice!). Since then, I've observed him straining to poop and passing tiny little stools and by this weekend it was obvious that fluid was collecting in his belly. The aspirate didn't look like typical FIP fluid, but it's being sent out and bloodwork and many other tests are being done. My heart is just breaking for him; he's only six years old and been sick so much of his life. They've already warned me that whatever is going on is not good but I just pray that it's treatable. Please think good thoughts for him. It's been a hot, muggy and miserable summer here in the Northeast and I am having a terrible flea outbreak; I swear that I have some mutant strain of super-fleas that nothing will kill! I've used Borax successfully for years, and at one point (in a room I have sealed off)they were jumping out of it! I'd left an absurd amount on the floor (like half an inch; thinking, "I WILL kill you") and I went in to check and vacuum it up after a few DAYS and they were leaping out of it biting me! I swear they were bigger and stronger than before I put the Borax down! Gloria, While pricey, have you tested him for allergies? It was close to $300 for each of my Daisy (-)and Butch (FIV+). Now they have allergy shots. Daisy is allergic to many things and changing her food has helped considerably. Both of them still have flare-ups; theirs is skin. The IVD fm the vet was best but Daisy will only eat Wellness chicken or turkey. Her allergies are the carbs! rice, grains, etc., unusual for cats. Butch did not test positive for foods yet the IVD or Wellness has helped him as well. The allergy serum isn't cheap either, again about $300 each for a batch which lasts quite a while ... began in early January I think and still using the same vials. I had to just reorder for my three and even though they are close to me because it has been so hot, I had to pay for overnight shipping which was $18 something I think. If I were you I would ask your vet to write a script for 100 ml at a time and give it 1 ml every day. Unless I read new research that suggests giving daily is not the protocol to use, I will continue to do so. Right now my three are healthy, happy and act like normal wonderful cats. I also trim claws as punishment around here. One cat scratches another, that cat gets a claw trimming. They hate it, because they can't do wild acrobatics on the cat tree when they don't have claws. Oh, hey, you guys recall me saying how my girl cat doesn't use the box, but will go in front of it, or in an empty box with no filler? Ladies, I am in your cat pee club! It used to be just Antonio marking and Elavil then Prozac helped ... didn't stop altogether. Then after a couple of years why spend the money or give him the drugs since he didn't stop and others started. Sam never peed outside the box but I witnessed him fully dosing the (towel covered) toaster so I suppose he is the guilty one for hitting the back of the cupboard. Minnie Lu pees on the stove during the night or early morning. Now Emily (?) began a spot in the garage. I think she is upset because the present three kitties there with her harrass her and the past three liked her and either played with her or ignored her. Most everything in my house has been "hit" either marking or all out bladderful. Feliway didn't do anything. I love them though. Have you tried addingProzyme to a premium non-graincanned food, it may help. I use Wellness but there are others. Also, one of my guys was quite poopy until he began IVD (fm vet) Venison and Green Pea kibble. In a few days, he firmed up and for the past three months no diarrhea. Confining kittyto one room and spreading sheets/towels on the floor helps cleaning up. A large dog crate or tall kitty wire kitty condo will confine and you cangive Misha periodic "recesses" into the room. I had three kittens with a few months of constant dripping; later an adult cat with the constant oozies for two months. Been there with the clean up. Good luck. How long has Misha had diarrhea? From the little you told us about her symptoms it sounds like some sort of IBD (intestinal bowel disease) problem. You need more help from your vet. IBD, (we don't know if this is Misha's problem), is usually treated with diet change. Some cats need to be taken off all dry food, sometimes they can't tolerate grains, sometimes vegetables, sometimes both. The people on the IBD list I belong to, (my Gypsy has a nasty case of IBD), advocate a raw diet (the group is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FelineIBD/ ) This was the only thing that helped my cat, but you can try getting her off dry food and on one of the better canned foods first. Stick with one type of protein, (chicken, duck etc.), to help her system adjust. There are also many homeopathic remedies that can help cats with diarrhea too, go to http://www.abchomeopathy.com/ and click on "remedy finder" to search for help with diarrhea. Vets usually prescribe steroids, (way too soon, imo), you want to try and eliminate whatever her system is reacting to first before you reach for the heavy artillery. When anyone has diarrhea, their body is essentially trying to 'get rid' of whatever is upsetting their systems by expelling it as fast as they can. It's like an allergy, you have to figure out what to give Misha to eat that her body won't react to. Go check out http://www.catnutrition.org/ for some ideas.If your concern is the unhealthfulness of liquid diarrhea all over your house, I completely understand. You can confine Misha to a single room, (make it as comfortable as possible and visit her often, she's not going to understand why she's being locked away), until you get the 'leaking butt' under control. If you are worried about Felv effecting you or your baby, your fears are unfounded. FeLV can not be transmitted to humans. If your concern is Toxoplasmosis, you are more than likely not in danger either, (please see recent archives addressing this concern). If you have had Misha with your other cats for six years, you do not have to be concerned about separating them. So the steroids really gave him another shot. Thinking about the chemo again, which chemo did your vet give him? Because Elspar is the one they normally start with if a cat is already sick, and it is just a subcutaneous shot I think. It is not IV or anything. And it sometimes kills off a lot of the lymphoma in itself and makes them feel better. And Cytoxin is just a pill, and that is one of the other ones that they do second or third. is there a way he can just get those two, neither of which are IV, and the steroids? It sooo sad he is sooo young and was definately the hearthtrob of the house, you know those cats that anytime your friends meet him he was always there favorite because he would! climb your leg if he had to for attention, he was a very kissy man, and stuck in everyone's minds. Even my boyfriends friends (not the biggest cat crowd) are really sad about him. They are all so special in their own way- but some are extrodinary.

Interferon mixing question re refreezing
I have the initial mix of Interferon with saline frozenin99 syringes - used up the first syringe which was mixed into saline and frozen (first freeze) in 100syringes. My question: Now I need to mix another batch ... thaw a concentrated syringe and mix with saline will provide 100 syringes of ready-to-use ...CAN I FREEZE THESE? If not, I will only use three months of interferon from this batch, and will have to mix another batch in three months. Which would be okay, I just need to know. If it can refreeze a second timeI will have some to last a looong time. Presently have three kittiestaking it. I hope I have made my question clear. (I know Belinda will agree with me 100%). And not the vets but God knows how longour pets will live. I really wish that XXI century will bring the medication against cancer. This is SO deja-vu, it's almost pushing me in the direction of believing in a higher power. KiKi was hit by a car, most likely this cat was too; Do-Dah broke his back, most likely this cat has too; Moogie was bone thin, dehydrated, and weak, this cat was too. I've regretted my mistakes the last time for years, and have always wanted to "make it right", and now, here it is, right in front of me. I am NOT going to let this cat die from injuries that can be fixed. I don't care if I have to work 60 hour weeks and beg on the street with a tin cup. I'm going to find out which vet around here can DO this kind of surgery tomorrow, and I'm going to ask them if I can arrange to send donations directly to their office. If that's doable, then I will do a very in depth donations campaign online and see if I can get some funding that way too. Of course, I plan to spend every dime I have to spare on her too. Pay rent, buy cat food, buy the minimal amount of human groceries, and put everything else into Bones. I am NOT going to be forced into the same corner again, I refuse to take no for an answer this time. I will buy this cat a wheelchair if she needs one. This is not happening to me again! If this is some sort of test, I will pass it, If this is some sort of redemption, I will be redeemed. I am not going to fail, I will not let this cat down! Now, if you're going to a website (like your ISP's website, or yahoo, or hotmail)to check your emails, then I am not sure you can do anything on your end to make it bigger. So I started bawling and babbling about how I didn't warn my husband that this was a possibility this morning and he just went to work without saying goodbye. I mean I was a crying freak and I just met the man! So he gave me a small TOWEL and said I was not having a "Kleenex cry" so to take a towel. Then he told me we were not making the call right now, and not like that. He gave him a bag of fluids and a shot of Prednisone and told me to talk to my husband first. I went back to work, then came and got Andy at lunch. I took him home and spent the afternoon with him. He pooped blood all over himself TWICE. The second time I was washing him off in the sink and he had one of his episodes (Dr. Baxter said these were probably small strokes rather than seizures). But this time it lasted a long, long time. He quit breathing and went limp in my arms. No noise, no chest movement. He was gone. So I laid him on the floor on the towel and my phone rang,it was my husband. So I was hysterical telling him Andy just died in my arms and I was freaking out. Right then, Andy let out this gaspy, panting type breath and started convulsing. Then he just kind of sat up alittle bit like nothing happened! But he was dead I tell you. So then I really freaked out and said "he's not dead!" I mean screaming it. So Abe (husband) asked whatfreeway the newvet was off of since he was on his way home. I told himwhereit was and hejust said "I am meeting you there right now." So I knew. I was not going to keep him through the night to spend a little more time together. That was it. He was suffering and I was thinking ofwhat I needed to be okay and not Andy. I wrappedhim in a towel and drove to the vet. I called first and again, just crying into the phone I managed to get out "I had my cat in there this morning and..." that's all I could get out. The poor girl who answered said "I'm so sorry Jamie, wewill see you in a minute." She knew my name and I hadn't even mentioned the cat's name. Guess I was the only bawling woman in with a cattoday. Anyway, I managed to choke out "but you close in 15 minutes." She just said "we'll be here."It was so wonderful to be treated with compassion. My old vet would have said "well ER hours start in 15 minutes so just be prepared to pay double." Anyway, I met Abe there and Dr. Baxter took us back to the treatment area. Andy laid on the table very still and I petting him and kissed his little face as the vet gave him the injection. I have never witnessedananimal bing PTSin real life. I'm sorry if this is all too graphic but it helps me to get it out. I was surprised that his eyes didn't close and nothing changed. Akira's vet called them adn asked for the numbers anyways...her white cell count was 400,000! and her lymphocytes (sp) were high tooshe has cancer...so that is what caused her to quit eating...well...her liver values are 16 times normal.and she is hypothyroid (I think that is the one..it is the one cats dont usually get) she is in liver failure(fatty liver ) from not eatingthe vet said that in healthy (non FeLV+) cats the survival rate is 70% with intensive carefor just teh fatty liver alone (in the stage she was in) and by that she meant a permanent feeding tube, 8 months or more of feeding her 6-10 times a day, and fighting any infection she would get from the feeding tube.but then on top of that she has cancer..somewhere...and we would have to find and treat that as well..so ultrasounds, x rays, biopsies...to even see if the cancer is treatableplus the treatment/surgery IF it wasPLUS the Fatty liver...PLUS the FeLV.and she probally wouldn't make it anyways...not to mention the tourture of all those procedures,a nd staying at teh vets office for a least another week...I decided to bring her home.What made it so much worse is I had to work this weekend..from 7 30 am until 10 pm both Saturday adn Sunday..so I got to hardley spend any time with her until today So thank you whoever sent the number for Janet the ACI called her adn she spoke with Akira...Akira does NOT want to go to the vet..nor does she want any help...right now...she wants to go at home with us around...so so be itShe wants to live every remaining minute of her life in peace and home...Janet was complelty amazed at how powerful, beautifull, nad strong Akira's soul was. It was a terrible living situation and the cats were taken out and shared with shelters and trusted kitty people. I took three catsand Tabitha tested positive. The vet guestamated she is one year old. The other positive was taken by a vet who immediately put her down after testing. "No point in fooling with the positives." Iheard her say she would but didn't know about the test results until afterwards.We have no idea if the two females were related. Another Pepcid AC question
I bought the Gelcaps Pepcid AC and the ingredients do not compare with the regular Pepcid AC square tablets ... the gelcaps are solid and can be quarteredbutlist several other ingredients and I am reluctant to use them unless some of you already have used them without any problems with the kitty. Of course, the sales receipt is already in the trash :( but I prefer to throw them out then have a bad reaction for kitty. Also ... in the morning Noah has 1/4 Pepcid about 7am,15 minutes before his breakfast ... should he have the next one 15 minutes before his supper which would be about 5pm or is that too close together to give the meds? Or should I wait until later in the evening even though he has already eaten? I feel quite stupid about the best way to give them tohis best advantage. I'd really appreciate the input,his mouth is a mess of sores and he has spewed some projectile vomiting ... clear bright yellow liquid. The vet saw him last week, there were eosinophils along with mucho bacteria. He had a Depo injection and on Clavamox, with very slow improvement. The vet saw him last week, there were eosinophils along with mucho bacteria. He had a Depo injection and on Clavamox, with very slow improvement. Our vet is on vacation this weekand while I could call him I prefer not to unless it is a direemergency. I'm not very up to date on reading the posts lately so may easily have missed something ... but most of us have our FIV+ mixed with our negatives unless the positive is aggressive since it usually takes a deep bite to pass the disease. FeLV+ is more contagious and not as many are mixed with negatives. Is there another reason to separate her if she is FIV+? And I was supposed to send it again to UC Davis for another DNA test as recommended by Cornell but never have so he is still isolated. Also, he is asymptomatic (no symptoms at all). Again, I have three other FIV (definite FIV) boys, but they are all healthy, unlike FeLV, many cats dont necessary die from FIV, but die with FIV so its hard to tell from their heath condition sometimes. But because of the inconsistency, he is still alone, which makes me feel very badly. I should probably do another test and see what happens soon. Anyway, I guess I have to do the same thing for Buddha (run western blot and another ELISA, and possibly IFA and DNA test I had to anesthetize her to draw blood last time, and probably have to do so again, which I hate to do, but, I really cant merge her with other kitties without knowing for sure of the results because of the risks to other cats anyway, I am writing this to you in case you have any insights on this situation. Unlike FeLV virus, once you have the FIV virus in the body, the virus tends to stay so once its positive, s/he will always be positive so inconsistency of the results (from positive to negative) comes from false test result, thats what I read and heard. Everyone, regardless, please pray for Buddha that she does not have FIV I really wanted her to merge with the cats in the main house which will make it difficult otherwise. I buy remnants of fleece and have them in many baskets around the house for kitties to sleep on ... unfortunately my Noah loves the fleece and drags it around in his mouth and it is his "woman" so to speak ... He was neutered early but has never lost the urge, for ten years he has done this, guess he will not outgrow it. A large enough piece to cover a twin bed would be a challenge for him.
