Tuesday morning he did not eat. His breath was horrendous. He liked to eat - - I used to joke with him that he and I both needed to spend time on the treadmill. That night he was not there nor on Wednesday nor Thursday morning though I searched and called. Thursday night he answered. He could not move and his pupils were dilated and fixed. He did not look as if he had been attacked by dogs or coyotes. I took him the 14 miles home and hydrated him orally during the night. He got up to walk several times during the late night morning but would walk 3 steps and wobble and fall down; he would cry out while sleeping with me or when I moved him but I did not know what the matter was. Conscious but not responsive to me. (the crying out walking with falling down reminiscent of Torie Rose - - in her last earthly night. The plan was to do fluids over the weekend and reassess early in the week. Vet said could be leukemia. could be poison. didn't know. I unintentionally killed him Friday night and will say no more about that. That is a heavy load. To have him suddenly in major distress was unimaginable. Siamese mix kitten with Medium super soft hair. He was a joy to have around purred constantly. Charlie lost his battle with FeLV this morning. He had been going down hill for a week or so, but had a good night last night where his rescue mom got to visit he ate almost a whole jar of baby food. This morning, however, he hardly ate anything, even with an appetite stimulant. His 3rd eyelids were up he would have to rest after walking only a few feet. He was not in my life for long, but he made a big impression on me his rescue mom. We love you little boy!You can see pics of Charlie on the FeLV Cats FD page at: http://tinyurl.com/27gdqas Beth Dont Litter, Fix Your Critter! www.Furkids.org ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
Re: [Felvtalk] please add Tiger to the CLS
A candle will burn in Richmond, VA for Tiger. Tiger didn't blame you, you cant blame yourself. They are so good at hiding their sickness. It is hard to notice when they don't have physical symptoms. He knows he was loved! On Thu, Sep 2, 2010 at 3:57 PM, LauraM hingebacktorto...@yahoo.com wrote: Tiger didn't have FeLV, but he passed away last night, much too soon. He was thirteen. I'd had him for three years. He was always a gentleman a loving, sweet boy. Three weeks ago we went to the vet. Something was wrong; he was sluggish and not eating well. It turns out he had a large abcess in his throat. The abcess was lanced, a whole lot of dead tissue was removed, we were sent home with antibiotics and everyone thought things would be fine. They weren't - there was a second vet visit last Monday, the abcess was drained again he was given more fluids. Tiger was hospitalized this Monday. The abcess wouldn't clear up, and even though he was given a stronger antibiotic he just couldn't fight the infection. I visited him yesterday and he ate for me and purred and purred. I didn't want to get my hopes up too high, but I still wasn't expecting my vet to call this morning give me the news that he'd died. I thought maybe we had a little bit of a chance. It turns out that Tiger had a hole in his esophagus; he must have ingested something that cut him. I would give anything to have him back with me. I wish I had taken him in sooner. He'd been quiet this summer, and not sleeping with me at night like he normally did, but everybody was quiet this summer because the house was so warm. Nobody else was snuggling with me on the bed either. I didn't pick up on the little signs that he wasn't feeling well. If I had, he might still be alive today. ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
[Felvtalk] Please add Theo to CLC list
This sweet little orange baby was found starving in a ditch at a few weeks old. We got him as well as we could but he never managed to be symptom free. We gave him lots of love and hopefully made his short life better. He succumbed to his illness today at only five months old. It's amazing how much they touch your hearts in such a short time. ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
