[Felvtalk] Feline leuk.
I need some opinions I currently have one feline leukemia cat and someone as of now is going to give me there leukemia cat. they changed their mind for about 3 weeks now. My question is for two years I've not told anyone that I have had and have a cat with feline leukemia I don't want people to judge me. But I feel bad cuz I'm not embarrassed to own a feline leukemia cats. My current cat is now two years past his diagnosis. Do I share with my friends and then Facebook or do I maintain keeping the secret___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
[Felvtalk] feline leuk and shaken cat syndrome ??
It has been awhile since I have looked at my emails and or participated in this group-but I am desperate for some help and answers, of which I am not even sure I explain all in an email. Here goes, another one of my feline leuk cats died yesterday (Monday) AM.She dropped to 6.4 pounds, lost a pound in one month-has not really been eating for days, keeping to herself, hiding, but would sit by me. The last two or three days she would no longer sleep with me.I went to Florida a couple of weeks ago, had a babysitter come in daily to check on her-and she appeared to be doing well but starting going downhill, Neveah--cat lost about one pound in a month time period. So this is where I really need help-and please pass on to see additional answers. I have noticed only a few people ever answer or respond to emails but I can say much as I never do. :.(So I took Neveah to the ER Monday AM, as her temp dropped to 98.5, she could not move, and her rt eye was dilated and would not go back to normal and left eye appeared to be fine. Sunday my friend was in the room with her for hours and noticed the cat Neveah was acting/walking not correctly. Is anyone every heard of shaken cat syndrome-is it possible my friend dropped Neveah, or shook her in the room and caused her to have a blood clot-yes I am grasping here.As with everyone I feel bad, should I have been more aggressive in giving her sub q fluids, obviously too late now, she is gone.I have requested her latest blood panel for my records, but I know her kidney panels were not good. Is anyone in this group but any chance from the Milwaukee area/ Or there any vets in this group, whom would be willing to speak with me.Please be as honest as possible-or if you need more information before you answer please let me know that as well ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
[Felvtalk] feline leuk
Hi all, I am in a rescue group, and one of our mommas came back as "slightly" positive per the vet, I must say that confuses me as the test was a combo test... Thoughts???In addition, she has two three week old babies, opinions on whether or not they should be separated??? ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
[Felvtalk] Eagle foster cat
This was a beloved foster. Not felv. However I need to express myself somewhere as I am depressed. He was eight months old and died Thursday on the way to door county. I was going out of town and needed to bring him with as he was on meds and was in congestive heart failure. I think he had a fatal heart attack. I feel if I would have left him home he would not have died. My choice killed him.___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org

Margo, why did you decide against Retrovir/AZT.I still have two with feline leuk, and am having a hard time dealing with the loss of Tiffany. [Felvtalk] Tiffany
Thanks to all those whom gave wonderful advice on Tiffany-unfortunately, she had went downhill the last several days and I chose to let her go--Tiffany could no longer fight the battle. I still have two left with feline leuk. I saw someone recommended to someone else about keeping a journal of good things which I like cuz right now all I can think of is what I should have done better. ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
Re: [Felvtalk] Tiffany
Thanks to all who has given advice. We went to vet last night and her blood levels have improved. However, Since December she is down 4 lbs. She purrs and is a good girl. I will keep moving forward until Tiffany wants to leave me. Due to her lack of eating they want to put in a side trach tube... I am not comfortable with this due to her state. I dont want her sedated in case she passes away from sedation. A lot of vets in Milwaukee Wisconsin where Tiffany and I live are incompetent about feline leuk.and treat us like we are cootie filled.. I get it she is sick and feline leukemia is dangerous but dont disrespect my child. I plan to use the advice given to me. ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
[Felvtalk] Tiffany
In the last two weeks my poor Tiffany has had three blood transfusions. Vets and nurses all feel she has a will to live. We just need to get over this hump. She will now be on epogen. Any feedback is welcome. She was diagnosed with feline leukemia a year ago. Has anyone had a feline tgat lived awhile with feline leukemia... Re: [Felvtalk] Feline Leukemia How Contagious?
I hope this is the way I am to send I have three that are feline leuk pos and the rest are not, they have been vaccinated about four months ago, and I want t re integrate with the other members, everyone is stressed being separated. I had one die in Feb of 2015--did not know he had it. But I am a little afraid to put everyone together From: Lorrie felineres...@frontier.com To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Sent: Thursday, July 2, 2015 12:21 PM Subject: Re: [Felvtalk] Feline Leukemia How Contagious? I have wondered exactly the same thing. I've had two FelV+ cats with my other 8 neg. cats for over 5 years. They neg. cats were vaccinated only once, and none have ever gotten sick. Of the 2 FelV + cats, one lived to the age of 7 and suddenly died with no prior illness. The other 7 year old cat (her sister) is still fine. One of my vets told me it was very difficult for a grown cat to get FelV, but a kitten born with it from a positive mother almost always dies. I had a litter of 4 pos. kittens and all of them died during the first year of their lives. It was terribly heart breaking. I am convinced that Annie really is not positive, just a tremendeous amount of stress that happened just before I got her. She has never shown any signs or symptoms of any disease.
