Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's Kitty Palace
I took a copy of picture of Ambe's palace to my vet and he is going to use it to make a palace fr his cat. Your husband really should think about making these to sell. Might become a new business for him. The cats don't have to be positive. This would be a way for inside cats to get some fresh outside air. I am thinking about enlarging it to accomodate 7 cats and attaching it to my house so they could come and go at will and be safe when outside. Jannes Taylor wrote: > What a sweet story! Our poor little babies. All of my animals are rescue situations. They would sure have stories to tell if they could talk! She spends all day in my bedroom on the bed coming down only to use her box and drink from her wate bowl in the shower. I tried taking her outide and she clung to me and would not get down. She was shaking so that I took her back inside. I got her from Pals (no kill shelter) at the age of 10. Before that se belonged to a pet sitter (who had 23 cats). She had a large chain link fenced area for her cats. I know she took good care of her babies but what happened to Lil Bit before that heaven only knows. Like you say, I wish they could talk, then maybe we could help them overcome their fears. Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's kitty palace
Amber sounds like my Lil Bit.
I finally got the pictures. That is a great palace! It gves me ideas for an outdoor room for my pride. It would come in handy during hunting season when I usually keep them inside lest a hunter shoot them for costing him a shot or the mountain lin gets hungry. I have been thinking of building an outside room for them that they could come and go from house to outside thru a cat door. That is wonderful. I would like to find a plan so my boys can spend time outside. I got Dixie a 10x10x6 kennel for a screened in porch (perfect for a dainty little girl and her Person) but two big boys.? She looks like a very happy, lucky little girl. Bless you. Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's Kitty Palace
Yes, I did think about getting her a buddy but I am having her retested in June. Supposedly she is over a year old. Everyone keeps talking about an adult cat being able to fight off the virus. I just hope the condition she was in when I found her did not keep her from doing so. She was starving and so skinny. Her gums were pale as well. I will do the IFA test too in June. My heart goes out to all the Felv kitties. I do have to say that this experience has shown me how many wonderful caring people there are out in this world who give so much of themselves to help our animal population. I must note that my husband is NOT a carpenter so building the kitty palace was not an easy endeavour for him. If may not be perfect in the physical sense but it is pur-fect for little Amber. :) Jannes From: TANYA NOE To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Sent: Tue, April 19, 2011 2:50:10 PM Subject: Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's Kitty Palace Forgive me if this has already been said I haven't had time to read all the posts to this thread. Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's Kitty Palace
There is a number of things you can put in her water to help with the teeth and I have a holistic vet who swears by PetzLife gel. By any chance do you have an old tv and vcr/dvd player? There are wonderful CDs/DVDs/videos that have all sorts of cat entertaining shows on them. Two cats of mine would sit on a stool to watch them. If I was asleep and they wanted to see it, Ebony would stare me wake and then sit on the stool in front of the dark tv. I wish I had thought and put it on a timer for them when I was on long shifts. Now I ust feed birds close to the windows my cats like best. Between the deer, turkey, squirrels etc they are very entertained. Assming money is as tight for you as for most of us, consider checking the libraries, Goodwill etc. On Apr 17, 2011, at 8:44 PM, Jannes Taylor wrote: Samson is pretty patient with cats but Amber is a brave little thing. I do remember that I screamed and she ran. LOL I try to spend as much time with Amber as I can. I go down in the basement first thing in the am to let her out and pet her for a while. I do the same thing in the afternoon. I work a full time job so I do the best I can. That is another reason it is frustrating not being able to have her upstairs. BTW, Amber only weighed 6 lbs on her first visit to the vet a week after I got her. I bet she would weigh 8 now. My two fat girls upstairs weigh 12 and 14 lbs. LOL. The vet says Amber is over a year old. Her teeth look worse than my six and seven year old cats. Lots of yellow tartar on them. One of her long teeth in the front is broken off some. She has not come in heat yet, so I still don't know if she has been spayed or not. I've had her seven weeks now. So many things I wonder about Amber my mystery cat.Jannes From: MaiMaiPG To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Sent: Sun, April 17, 2011 6:55:08 PM Subject: Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's Kitty Palace You have to follow your heart. Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's kitty palace
I should explain that we have a dog who stays in the basement as well. He has a flap in the regular door where he can come and go as he pleases. When I let Amber out, I have to shut the flap so he is either in or out for a while. When she is in the palace, I can leave the flap open. It has taken some adjustments for everyone, including my dog Samson. He is a country dog with lots of country smells so that is why he lives in the basement. Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's Kitty Palace
At first I tried to find her a home because I was so afraid of somehow exposing my other cats to her, but so far everything has worked out fine. I would not give her up now at all! I love my little Amber. One sad thing is when she sits at the top of the basement stairs and I find her there. I should have named her Cinderella. But, it is still a whole lot better than what could have happened to her. God sent her to me for a reason and I will do my best for her. Re: [Felvtalk] Amber's kitty palace
It is in the basement. I let her roam free in the basement every chance I get. Even though the palace is 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, and six feet tall, she still likes to get out of it for a while. I can roll it outside but she doesn't really like that. It seems to make her nervous when she is outdoors. Poor thing, I wish she could talk so I could know her story! She is too tame and sweet from the beginning to be a feral cat. Somebody must have just decided they did not want her anymore and basically threw her away. I the photos I had rolled it close to the basment garage door opening so she could see the outdoors. It is when I roll it completely outside that she gets the most nervous.
