Seems like it's a couple of months after they test positive, that you retest,
but wanted to check.  Anybody know?

That time-line is about right. Some vets will say 90 days. If the Elisa is
positive again, then do another IFA. If you get a negative again on the IFA,
then you will have to repeat again. Of course if the ELISA is negative,
there is no need to to another IFA (which means she cleared the virus). How
old is Miss Nora?

Good luck!!

Miss Nora, the FeLeuk kitty we got adopted here in Spring Green, is due
for retesting. In late May she tested positive on the Elisa then in the
first week of June, she tested negative on the IFA. It's my understanding
that she should be re-tested 45 - 60 days after later. Would that be the
Elisa or the IFA or both?

My assumption would be that the first ELISA was a false positive.

Re: [Felvtalk] Retesting

I hope so too!!! My kitty was negative on the ELISA test at 5 mos of age. He
passed away from the FeLV at 9 mos. It was very sudden, and, of course, very
upsetting. This happened this past March and I'm still in shock over it.

As far as Miss Nora, you still need another test regardless if the first was
a false positive so you can be sure and for piece of mind. Since she is
still so young, you need to give her immune system a chance to clear the
virus. If you can wait the 90 days, I would do that. If not test her again
and go from there. Keep us posted and I will keep my fingers crossed and
pray for little Miss Nora!
