jennifer, lysine is for ALL species that have herpes-virus problems. humans with recurrent cold sores use it, and critters with eye/mouth problems from herpes use it, as well. some vet assn's suggest that ALL cats receive a daily supplement of lysine. it is very inexpensive if you buy it in bulk powdered form--if you go to a place like bizrate.com or nextag.com, you can compare prices easily. Hi guys, I just read in two different places so far that if you are giving cats L-lysine that is originally intended for humans, make sure it does not contain propylene glycol.
