We have been using Advantage monthly (big dog tube, divided up) and not much success. Every time I take a cat in the vet will say "too many fleas" and apply Revolution. That seems to work better but at $18 a pop I cannot afford it.
With 8 cats, the most I have had at one time, it is too expensive. I now use
catnip and other mints planted in the yard. The cats love it and roll around
in it, have no fleas. In the winter, I break off pieces for them to play with
and eat.

Nytenpyram is excellent stuff. Much less expensive than Capstar. My
daughter has 27 rescued cats and she also buys it from Little City
Dogs.

I never have a severe flea problem as I vacuum every day, use
Advantage 2, have flea traps in every toom, and use flea combs.
