Maria et al:  ( please forgive all the blasted question marks that appear in my responses...  I don't put them there they just appear....  I'm going to try NOT using dots to separate  thoughts and see if that helps.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.  I am fairly up to date on natural supplements ( and , honestly, less than impressed with them for such serious disorders)  my Kitties have been on immune enhancers and other proprietary natural supplements since the day I got them " just in case" they offer any assistance.... They also get Lysine daily: and I'll probably add DMG.   My biggest concern is his eyes and finding an alternative to corticosteroids that might be able to stave off a return of the Uveitis as once it returns I VERY much doubt there are  natural supplements that are going to have the immediate effects he will need( much less ones that can be administered directly into the eye but. who knows- it took a couple of weeks to bring it under control initially with the Prednisolone and even at that it was a judgement call on the part of myself AND the vet as we both knew the risks of chronic Pred administration intra-ocularly but that had to be weighed against the certain loss of the eye if the Uveitis were allowed to continue( also his intraocular pressure was rising so it was literally just a matter of time.  I'd consider removing the eye if it were not for the fact that he had it in both eyes and it is nearly certain to come back in the other eye as well if it returns. and to be perfectly honest.... I'm not willing to put either him OR myself through that .... the vet recommends against this severe an operation for him and considering the risks and the expense for a more than uncertain outcome and a life of near or total blindness( IF he survives the operation) on TOP of his other ills now and in the future.   It's just not a good life for either of us.    Hoping for miracles still ( or even some good luck for my little guy who appears to have been born under a bad sign but not banking on them... I read the posts here from folks whose Kitties have turned up positive after several years and wish that this kind of time had been gifted to my little guy....  We have a colony of FeLV cats now at the shelter where I volunteer and not a one of them have been sick a day since we got them in beyond the URI's that affected the rest of the shelter cats ....  I'm hoping the youngest two,at least, might test negative post 6 months... absolute prettiest and sweetest cats we have at the shelter.... they should be in a home where they can be appreciated....   but I digress....   thanks for your thoughts.. O.k.. Then, opt for natural, bio degradable cleaning products that will do
the same thing, while keeping your cats safe. ?

Try researching natural suppliments or remedies on line. Also, have you considered seeing a holistic vetnerian? I have not been to one, but i have read and heard about them in the internet. Try also using curcumin and any food/vitamin supplyment that might help with inflamation. Try to keep your home and items clean/sanitary to avoid further infections, even items used for feeding/drinking. Bleach/lysol/ and disinfecting wipe will healp, and they don't need the expensive brand either. Also, try to turn on the shower
head on hot water to creat steam, as this help him open up his nasal
passages. Try also feeding him good fatty acids and oils, like oil based
gel vitamin suppliments-preferably for kittens, even if the cat is an
adult. Try also feeding him kitten food and milk, since these have more calories and nutriens than adult food-this might help him gain weight. Also, incorporate more canned food, and water comsumeption. This increase
feedings. Hopefully, this might help him gain weight and heal
better/sooner. Good luck. And if you have faith, pray, pray for your little
fighter! Stay strong. Have hope. ?

His " better" eye does not appear to be very functional which leaves him at risk if the other guy decides to jump him..... it's not too dangerous......
But back to the original question..... any thought or experiences with
anti Inflammatory medications that can used ocularly that are not
Corticosteroids.......

thanks for any thoughts..

I never had expected the Interferon to cause red cell or hematocrit
changes. Where can I find information about that?

My experience was that the interferon did absolutely nothing for my
Zander. I checked his blood work weekly to track what was happening, and even though I left him on it for several months (with blood transfusions, to ensure there was a chance for it to work), there was no effect at all on
the red blood cells or haematocrit.

Do not wait if you don?t see improvement. My strong suggestion is to put
him back on the doxycycline and try again for some Winstrol.

Hey... Hodor was pretty steady and eating well, good energy... Until Wednesday. Since then be seems to not have enough energy to move very far.
Not eating well, or drinking well. One of his eyes started tearing
occasionally. He still gets excited about treats and a water bottle we freeze for him that he likes to lick. He has been on interferon for 2 weeks... This past week was his 7 days off. He started back last night. Has anyone had interferon experience and seen their cats drop on the week off?
Any suggestions? I don't want to lose him. We are also giving him
prednisone, Pet Tinic and Dmg.
I don't think the URI cleared before they stopped his doxycycline... Even though I expressed concern they said stop for now... I want to start him again....any thoughts? I don't think his immune system needs this extra
stress! He was doing so well when he had the doxycycline.
Thank you.

And about essential oils-the purpose of using oils and fats is to give them to you cat until they gain weight- they are not ment to be used long term.
