i think everyone makes that mistake at least once. we think that if it is safe
for us, it should be safe for our babies, so don't put yourself down too much.
we all learn as we go. personally, i am keeping a notebook on these emails so
i will have to use as a refernece. i have learned so much from everyone, but i
know i will forget, so printing them and putting in notebook will assure i
still have the info. dorlis

 Laurie,
Flavors and seasonings almost always mean onion, they just don't list
the flavors indiidually because they don't have to, onion is a very
common ingredient in many, many things because it does add flavor.

Sidney, you didn't create a fuss or do anything wrong, it was just
something I was aware of and if it something concerning the safety of
our kitties I feel it is better mentioned than not.

Nobody knows everything but I learn by being told or by example. You
can't be doing anything wrong if you don't know. Even though on the
tysons it says flavors it doesn't mean 100% for sure there is onion in
it but there may be, so for me personally it is better to be safe than
sorry if there are other options for food he will eat.

Baby food is a good option, I feed it to my guys all the time to fatten
them up if they are losing weight or to get them to take their pills in
the morning. Gerber has twice the calories of beechnut and my guys
favor one over the other at various times. One thing if it is all you
are feeding for any length of time you'll want to add a 1/10 of a multi
vitamin and some taurine to it and mix it in, cats need taurine and baby
food doesn't have it. This would only apply if it is all he is eating
for weeks or longer.

Just curious has anyone else noticed the chicken gerbers is not pink
anymore but has a tan or yellowish tint It doesn't smell or taste
funny but my cats don't like it anymore, they like the pink if I can
find it but won't touch the tanish, yellowish one. I've been meaning to
call gerber and find out if they have changed their formula and let them
know my furkids won't touch it anymore. Shame because it has more
calories and they usually prefer the creamery texture.

Amen to that. You are providing the most important things..love
and care. A lot is trial and errorsometimes painful error but
those from love are never wrong. They just happen. I learn from each
wonderful creature that choses to come into my life. Let your heart
be open and you will too. If you need to vent I too am open. I
listen pretty good.

A caution on the Pepcid that my vet gave me (I've used it successfully
with several friends): Make sure it is the original formula. I think
it is 4 mg but ask someone on the list (like Wendy) to be sure. Some
of the other versions can cause problems.

opinionated or like they're telling you what to do, but usually its

I had some issues with my Julie not eating (she was not FeLV, but
CRF/hyperthyroid and 17-18 yrs. old). She responded very well to
Beechnut chicken and gravy baby food, as well as raw chicken boiled,
and the broth created from the boiled chicken. Also, deli meat
sometimes.  And I gave her 1/4 Pepcid AC original formula sometimes;
that really helped settle her stomach and get her eating. She would
stop eating if her stomach was upset. Sub-Q fluids will also most
likely make General feel better. I learned from others on this site
and good websites how to do it and you would be surprised how easy
it is and how much better it makes sick kitties feel. I now keep
needles, tubing, and lactated ringers (fluids) on hand at all times
in case my kitties get sick.

Please ask if you need anything else!
:)
Wendy.
