just a thought. is there a www.freecycle.org listed for your local area? in case you don't know how it works, you have to register and then (at least in our area) the first post must be an Offer of something. everything has to be free. people offer things from packing materials to boats to food etc. you could post as a cat rescue looking for food--that would smoke out any cat lovers and perhaps you could network with them. also i googled for new mexico(that is where you are,right? or did I hallucinate again?)and found this group. perhaps they could help or know others. http://www.albcat.com/
