I have a sweet little FeLuk+ kitty who I need to find a new home for. I bottle raised Nanie (short for Maynard)from 2 weeks old and by the time I found out he was FeLuk+ (at 8 months, because that is how long it took to get him healthy enough to be fixed) there was no way I could take him back into the Humane Society I was fostering him for knowing what his chances were. So he stayed with me. All our other cats are (and have been forever) vaccinated against it, since we take in so many strays, so that was not a problem.

We were doing fine until kitten season hit, the HS has gotten in 3 litters of unweaned babies that I couldn't take because I had Nanie and it wouldn't be fair to expose them to him. We had nursing mothers that took them in, but I relized that it was only a matter of time before we didn't.

It would be way too hard on him to have to live in a cage instead of having free run of a home, so we've not contacted rescues about him.

He is on Petfinder but I thought that listing him here might get to more people who could take him. Here is what it says on his Petfinder listing:

Nanie looks like he could be purebred Maine Coon, if he just weighed closer to 20 pounds instead of about 5. We call him our Mini Maine Coon. :) He is heavliy built like a Maine Coon and has long silky black tabby fur.

His litter was found in the woods on top of their dead mother, at 2 weeks old, by a couple of mushroomers. They were brought into our local shelter, who sent them to us for bottlefeeding. He is the only one out of his litter of 5 that we managed to save.

Nanie's eyes are very milky and he is partially blind. He can see movement and large shapes, but not much else. He is very people oriented and loves to ride about on your shoulders and will launch himself towards the sound of your voice (since he can't see) from across the room. Nanie gets along fine with all other cats and dogs. He hasn't learned to smack the puppy when he is playing rough with him (He just cries for us to come save him.) So a dog who is doesn't try to play rough with cats would be best.

He turned a year old around April tenth. He is Neutered and UPD on all shots including Rabies. Now for the bad news: He is Feline Leukemia positive. He does not show any signs of being sick and seems to be one of the heathiest cats we have in our house full of rescues. He never has any colds, snooty eyes, gooky noses, etc.

He would need to go to a home with another FeLuk+ kitty or to a home where everyone else is vaccinated. He is VERY trusting of people and it doesn't even cross his mind that one day when he jumps and misses noone will catch him. So he need to go to a home where he won't have to learn the hard way. Besides jumping onto your shoulder from atop furniture or counters, he stands on his hind legs and pats your knee until you pick him up.

Would you spoil him rotten(er) and catch him when he jumps at your shoulder and misses because he can't see it? If so, set up an appointment to meet him and fall in love.

We are in west central Indiana, but can transport him at least part way to you. If you would like to meet him email at <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED]
