Help for Adri
Im not really experienced enough to give you specifics I know there are other people on this list who are and perhaps they can give you some suggestions I know that getting her to drink is real important so anything you can do to get her to take some water also, try to feed her anything at allwater from a can of tuna, baby food (without onions), turkey breast, yogurt, cottage cheese, absolutely anything that you think she might try. Did the vet see her? What did he say was going on with her? I know that sometimes they want to run a lot of tests but he should have been able to give you a better idea of whats going on with Adri. Uh-oh Sounds like she's got anemia. Has she been tested for hemobartinella? If she has and is not infected, the vet may (unfortunately) be correct..I've lost 3 due to severe anemia. RE: Help for Adri
If she is not eating, could you get a sub-fluid bag from a vet and give her fluid yourself? Ask if they can sell you at their cost (which is very cheap) _ I think that hydration is critical especially if she is not eating.. If you can find a vet that will try subq's with her, try it. If you don't have the money, ask if you could work it off by cleaning cages or whatever. Many vets will allow you to trade work for care in servere casescall around in the phone book. Good luck, You are both in my prayers. RE: Help for Adri
Anybody who has ever lost a pet for any reason feels terriblemy family always had cats dogs who had somehow just shown up or that they got from someone who didnt want them anymore. Whenever we lost one, as hard as it was, I always thought that if that cat or dog hadnt found us they would have died a terrible death somewhere all alone.. If you and Adri hadnt found each other, imagine how hard it would have been for her. You have given her some wonderful time, a lot of love, the best care possible. And in return she gives you love and all those great moments we all have with our pets I have 5 cats now, 2 are pos,--when their time comes, I wont regret any minute of my time with them. No matter how things go with Adri, she will always be in your heart Chris [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Martha Alejandra Moreno Sent: Friday, July 22, 2005 5:03 PM To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Subject: Re: Help for Adri I feel horrible. Re: Help for Adri
From what you describe it does sound like anemia. The vet should be able to tell you what he thinks it is without charging you any more money. My Grace has been very sick in the past with anemic symptoms. We think her's was caused by Hemobartinella. Putting her on Doxycycline turned her around. Also, ask your vet for some Interferon to give Adri. Did your vet say she is dehydrated? You could give her subq (under the skin with a needle), fluids to keep her hydrated even if she's not eating or drinking enough. There is a support group for assist-feeding that could help you get some nutrition down her to hopefully help her make it through this. I'm so sorry about Adri condition and am praying she makes a comeback. I know how hard it is to watch them suffer and my heart goes out to you. We all completely understand not wanting to experience the heartbreak of Felv again. Try to think about how very important you have been in Adri's life, how if not for you she may never have gotten to live at all. Bless you for opening your heart and home to her. I know it hurts, and I'm so sorry. Also ask if they have a fund to help pay when people can not afford to pay the bills. Most animal hospitals say they have these funds and get people to donate to them, but then do not advertise that money is available. Ask them if they have one of these funds for people to donate to. If they say yes (they will think you are going to donate), tell them that you need to apply for help from the fund. Don't punish yourself over this. It isn't your fault. I understand why you feel that way though. my husband said the same thing after we lost our fourth FeLV+ cat, Alec. It just got too painful.
