Iodiene just helps to stop the fungal spores from spreading. It doesn't have any therapeutic effect but I think just the fact it is cold from the fridge that gives a little soothing effect for them. It is also good for preventing secondary bacterial infection (like bacterial folliculitis) setting in over the top of ringworm. Bramble had both, bless him.
