Dear Susan,
Thank you for your email. I think Boy had felv+. Everything happened so
fast last night that the only thing I heard was Lukemia and euth. I have two
other kitties that were/are raised with Boy. The Vet says they should be
checked. Why do

I just laid a wonderful boy to rest last night due to this Cancer. I am at a
severe lost. I have two other cats that are being checked today. Prayers
needed. All my three boys have had contact for the past three years and I'm
very scared. My boy
Angela,
What wonderful news! It made my day!
Please stick around and keep learning from these guys.
There is usually something helpful every day or two
that makes us better cat parents...Although you have
3-months before a retesting and everything will
probably be just dandy, there is nothing

Angela,
I'm so sorry to hear about your boy.
Had he been re-tested recently for Felv?
Normally, it is the secodary illnesses that take our Felv kids.
Such as different cancers.
Due to their weak immune systems.
Did he have a biopsy done prior indicate what kind of cancer he had?

Angela, I am so sorryfor your loss, your pain and the uncertaintyI
unexpectedly lost Keisha 5 weeks ago. I didn't even know she was sick (not

Laurie,
Thank you for your encouraging words. Midnight being sick was such a shock!
He was the one who would take toys from the other two and play! He was/is
absolutely beautiful. I know he is in kitty heaven. I think that when we were
in the vets office last night he became visually worse,
Laurie,
I just have a couple questions: Did Squeaky and
Stripes have the FeLV virus for many years and
survive? If so maybe both were just carriers? The fact
Stripes lived to age 16, even with illnesses during
that time, is still amazing.
As for the heart problems you have been facing:

If they are otherwise health, DO NOT be forced to put them down simply
because they test positive for FeLV. Kittens/Cats can live several years and
be healthy even with FeLV. Obviously, all

But that in and of itself means nothing. There are 20% false
positives, so there is a 1 in 5 chance the cat wasn't even positive.

The SNAP test is an inhouse test. The IFA test is a test sent out to a lab.

HI Angela
This sounds exactly like what happened to my Pumpkin. What may be different
is that Pumpkins was hiding the fact he was not eating. Although I did
figure it out. His gums were exactly as you described he spent two nights at

Hi Angela
That is great news. I decided not to retest my kitties bc they were all
equally exposed and the expense of testing 9 cats again. I had higher than
usual positives. My thought is that I had a pretty virulent strain of FeLV
as I had a 25% tested positive. All the remaining cats have been
