Yes, false positives are very common for fiv because kittens can test
positive if their mother was positive and then throw it off later
at the sanctuary, over the years, they found that the snap test was
only accurate 60% of the time in adult FIVs (tho there are some
exceptions, essentially there are no FIV+ kittens--something like 95%
or more who test positive will no longer do so once mom's antibodies
are out of their

Yes, false positives are very common for fiv because kittens can test positive if their mother was positive and then throw it off later. I don't think an fiv test is considered definitive on a cat under 3 or 6 months. I don't remember which it is. I know I wish shelters didn't test for fiv anymore
I thought this was talking about false positives for fiv?? I'd like to see that article too. If it were true it seems like someone would have heard??
