Re: To Glenda re. Catcher

2007-07-28 Thread wendy
Hey Glenda,

I called the Fort Worth Animal Control, and asked about Catcher. A lady named
Dorothy, I'm sure the same one you spoke to, told me that he had been adopted.
I told her I had his number, but she didn't even ask for it; she already knew
who I was talking about. I asked when he had been adopted, and she said two
days ago. I didn't ask her anything else. She seemed nice and I believed her
when she said he'd been adopted. I bet he went to a great family, with that
cute suit!

:)

Wendy,
That is so sweet of you! Last night when I saw him on
petfinder.com I just fell in love with him. They put
him in that dumb little suit and I thought how he was
just so good natured and trying to please
everyone...so desperate to get adopted...I read what
they wrote, saying he had been in the shelter since
May and was starting to get depressed and how they
were going to put him out of his misery if he was not
adopted soon.
Well, this mortified me. I'd never seen an ad on
petfinder say something so harsh, ever. Here we have a
beautiful, healthy animal and they are saying he will
be killed, because there is not room to keep him and
he is getting depressed. Well, I actually was crying
last night over this cat, wondering if I was too
late...I told everyone about him last night, because I
, knowing me, was probably hoping someone in or near
Fort Worth would help me somehow, if I needed a human
to be there to speak for him...I know how difficult it
can be adopting long distance. I would have asked my
son's dad, who goes down every week in the summer. He
hauls potatoes south and watermelons north. He used to
run 5-trucks, now he just runs his own, but has lots
of connections...I would have gotten that kitty a
ride, believe me...I was not going to let that cat
die! The bad thing is, I had not surfed petfinder. com
for a couple weeks,so did not know how long that ad
had been out.
Well, as you could see I let everyone know step by
step. I called the minute they opened this morning. My
last update was, I had only called once and got a lady
that did not offer a lot of info and just in general
gave me a bad feeling. I called back ,around their
lunch time, hoping to get lucky and get a nicer , more
helpful person. I did. A lady named Dorothy. She just
seemed a lot nicer, had a more thoughtful attitude.
She too, said the ID# on the cat was invalid... then I
said , his name is Catcher. She recognized the name ,
because she said, there were several calls yesterday
asking about him. She left the phone for a few
minutes, said she would ask a worker about Catcher.
She finally came back and said an attendent told her
Catcher was adopted yesterday. I said, you mean he is
alive? She said, yes, he is alive. I felt like she was
telling me the truth. If only for the fact, I cannot
imagine a number of people who saw that ad, as
desperate as it was worded, did not panic like I did.
It was a very affective ad. Even the dumb duck suit
made people click to just see what was going on with
that cat...then they could read it...A lot of people
had to see it.
They finally removed the ad tonight from the site. I
wish , under the circumstances , they would say
ADOPTED and leave it up...Then I think I would feel a
little more sure that he did get adopted.
I want to apologize to everyone for getting so
excited about this cat before I knew a lot...The only
thing good about how I handled this was, I was able to
get the word out fast and wonderful Wendy offered to
help me rescue the little guy...That fast action was
very important in this particular case.
Again Wendy, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'll be here for you
too, if you ever need any help from this part of the
country.

Just signed the petition...I am from California, so

I said : Anyone who harms an animal deserves to be
punished the same as if they had harmed a human

I hope someday we get a president in the White House

I'm so glad he is doing better. I know you are

this disease, for every ten people that give you no
hope, there is one with a success story or some type

to give it all we got to pull our little guys through.
I'm so sorry this disease has been so awful in your
family...You are an angel for trying so hard...My
heart is with Junior...
With my Gracie, I have never seen her show any signs
of sickness, yet. She is only 5-months old. She
contracted her leukemia from her mother. All I have
been doing with her is giving her 500 mg of lysene per
day and a good vitamin tablet. I give her a small dab
of tuna or sardine with the crushed up tablets and she
licks her plate clean...very simple...
I am always seeing where people say the test results
are a strong positive or a weak positive. The second
time Gracie was tested I looked at the test kit and
asked my vet if she was a weak pos. or a a strong pos.
My vet just said, that it did not matter...a positive
was a positive I remember with heartworm in dogs, it
does matter , a weak pos. or strong pos. Maybe that is
different...? Later, Glenda

I can only save one at a time.

I am still amazed at Junior's progress. Last fall I
 thought he would not
survive very long from the FeLV. He has has several
 infections and it all
started with anemia. He felt soo bad and I
 did too. Not to mention
losing three cats to this horrible disease. My
 household far exceeded the
statistic for cats getting sick with FeLV. I am just
 lucky that way.(NOT)

Juniors only symptoms that are visible now are
 enlarged lymph nodes behind
his ears, glaucoma from an eye infection, and a
 permanently dilated eye also
from uveitis. He sometimes sounds a little congested
 but never sneezes. Oh
yes and he has hemaetomas in his ears.

I am glad you went to my site. Everyone is welcome
to look and join if they

 a lady on another group.
He lost some history during an upgrade and she never
 posted them again.

I hope no news is food news. I am always glad when
 the group is quiet.
