Wow, I lived in TX back in the early 80s up until 91 never had a problem with getting my Pet Vet records either.
Especially since I was moving back to WA. state.

Just to let you know I have spoke with a person of Veterinary Board. She told me to write a letter of request and that they have 15 days to get to me since the services were rendered and paid in full.
She gave me the Washington rules and laws along with what Belinda sent me.
If they don't comply or if the records appeared tampered with to file a complaint with them.
Something doesn't feel right about this. I think they aren't being honest with me on what happened to Dukee. Then charge the amount they did.
God, I will be so upset if this is the case and will file a lawsuit against them.

Hi there,

I am in Texas.  This is my vet's statement on medical records:

This is not because he will not release copies - he is explaining why a person may or may not be able to obtain copies from their previous vet.

The emergency hospital here gives me copies of EVERYTHING when I pay/checkout, including the notes they take when they check on the animals.  It is pretty cool, I wish everyone did that.

Kelley what state are you in?  I would guess each state will have
different laws, in Washington they have to by law turn them over with a
written request within 15 business days, of course that won't stop them
from omitting things or changing things.
