I lost a cat to an Anemia Virus. It is so rare where I live, The San
Francisco Bay area, that it was the first case my vet had seen since he
left Vet College. And he is in his 50's
In my instances, the anemia has snuck up on us. Anytime I take mine in I have them go ahead and do the bloodwork and compare it to the last bloodwork. That's a good double check and sometimes helps keep from having to go back right away.
That's just my experience.

well, we were dosing 600 cats, remember, so we just figured out how
many tablespoons-full a day, and distributed it amongst the water
bowls clearly we couldn't give everyone their personal dose, nor
really monitor the intake, but it worked, so...
