[Felvtalk] 3 1/2 month old kitten with diarrhea

2008-11-13 Thread Lisa Borden
I am so happy to have found this list. Two weeks ago, I took in a 3 month old kitten. He's a beautiful orange kitten and I've fallen in love with him. Yesterday I took him to the vet for his vaccines, and we ran an FeLV/FIV snap test. It came back positive for FeLV. We sent off the other test

[Felvtalk] So now what?

My kitten tested positive on his IFA test. My vet told me I should keep him isolated, or euthanize him. I couldn't do the latter, and isolating him ... well, I think that would just stress everyone out even more. So after calling a good friend while sitting outside of the vet's office

[Felvtalk] Question re: keeping them healthy

2008-11-15 Thread Lisa Borden
I am at work and I just thought of something. I am a nurse and come in contact with human bugs all the time. Is it logical for me to think that I should NOT let ANY of my cats come in contact with my clothes or shoes when I come home? Or are the human bugs not a risk for them.

Thank you Marylyn and ALL! I have decided that I want to explore the holistic vet option. I have been in e-mail contact with one holistic vet in my area, and am going to set up an appointment. I may have to wait a while for our first appointment, though. He's so worth it! He's

[Felvtalk] Holistic vet

2008-11-18 Thread Lisa Borden
I am taking my kitten, Tommy, to a holistic vet this morning. After speaking with her yesterday, I am very encouraged! Like some of you have told me, she said that a separation would be too stressful on ALL of the cats, which is the worst thing for their little immune systems.

You didn't get it because your immune system was strong enough to fight it off. Hospitalized patients are the ones that are at risk for getting c-diff. I could probably take care of a hundred patients with it and not get it. The reason we (nurses) wear gowns when taking care of these
